Now, this is assuming that Daunte is ready to go by week 1.

As you all know the situation with Daunte is a toss up at this point. We don't know when he'll be ready to go, but when he is, he will undoubtedly make a huge difference. Knee injuries like this will often generate swelling after a lot of pressure is put on the surgecially repaired ligaments. So look at this for a logical conclusion to handel Daunte's knee properly.

Play him for the following games:
Week 1 @ Pittsburgh
Week 2 vs. Buffalo
Week 3 vs. Tennessee

Rest him in Week 4 @ Houston (Play Joey)

Play him in the following games:
Week 5 @ New England
Week 6 @ NY Jets
Week 7 vs. Green Bay

Rest him in the week 8 BYE obviously

Play him in the following games:
Week 9 @ Chicago
Week 10 vs. Kansas City
Week 11 vs. Minnesota

Rest him in week 12 @ Detroit (Let Joey get his revenge in Mo-town)

Play him the following games:
Week 13 vs. Jacksonville
Week 14 vs. New England
Week 15 @ Buffalo

Play weeks 16 & 17 by ear. See where Daunte is, the week 17 matchup in Indianapolis could have no meaning so see where we are as a team at that point.

The schedule seems to play perfectly for our situation. Thanks for the time on this read guys, tell me what you think.

I say we should start Joey first game cuz chances are the Steelers arnt going to have Big Ben

Other then that, i say let joey vs the scrubs

But regardless i say we giv Joey the nod in Detroit, but id rather us bring a blowout on turkey day and have Cpep start

Before I'd think the same way as you. But especially with this being Daunte's first year with the team, I don't know if it'd be smart to keep putting him in and takin him out. The great offenses have a certain chemistry and flow to them that can only be developed with playing time. I don't feel comfortable playing him all season long yet (though he did look great in those minicamp videos), but if he does sit, I'd just sit him in the beginning of the season regardless of who the Phins play. And then play him the rest of the way.

I don't know. I agree that he should get all the rest that he can, but once he starts (assuiming he performs well) I believe he'll be in for good. They're not going to swap him back and forth unless he gets re-injured.

What some of you guys don't understand, is the amount of swelling that will happen in his knee. That's one of the reasons this injury is so nagging. If he plays 3 straight weeks, he's going to have significant swelling. At that point it'll be up to our medical staff to get the swelling down and clear him to play.

I was just picking out games that he could sit out in order to cut down swelling because no matter what, it will be there.

I understand that, but from what I'm getting from all these reports and stuff is that they are using the offseason to condition his knees to get his swelling down. What I'm hoping is that the Phins can afford to sit him but work him in practices until the nagging pain from his knees won't bother him much.

Interesting. But I think we will be better served to approach his injury week by week and day by day. Appears to be what they are doing.

I'm glad you're not the coach.

Don't come at me with that tone man. Make a sugestment of your own or don't post at all. I can't stand posters who just sit here and critisize others while they have NO opinion of there own. So say something good, or say nothig at all.

Some of you guys seem to think that I am saying that this is WHAT WE MUST DO! But I'm not saying that at all! I'm saying if swelling occurs, that we should be ok because of our schedule. Daunte can rest that knee against some of these weaker teams. We don't have any one strecth where we play powerhouse after powerhouse.

No I'm good. Saban is a genious, I'm sure he'll figure something out. This is a very realistic option due to the significance of Daunte's injury. You can email him your opinion though because it seems to be a great one.

alright fellas, no need to bash on each other. i'll call nick tonight, let'em know wassup. here's the plan. i'll tell'em to start pepper until he can't go. then joey. he's probably going to suck, so he'll put lemon in right behind him. lemon will probably get all confused and overwhelmed because he's never played a snap. so bring is vick as the emergency qb. he'll take us to the friggin' sb and win the whole thing. vick will save the franchise.
