Cambell is taking it one step at a time. Offence, then I would expect, next week a defence tweak. I wouldnt be surprised too see him give Coyle 2 games to pull his head out of his backside. If that doesnt work, he is gone. Just he steps up is anyones guess.
And with that brings the thought of a new HC next year. Whoever it is, he will want his own OC & DC. Unless Lazor gets the gig.
Time...gentlemen...time. He can't do everything at once. First thing was replacing himself as a position coach. You aren't going to get a guy in in 1 day. They tried Schwartz, that failed. He needs to find a replacement; and this tells me the replacement will not be one of the current position coaches (would you want our LB or DB coaches to be the DC...I don't!)
with no practice for 3 days from the bye, if he is still here by the weekend he isnt going anywhere. Id imagine Campbell is focusing on the D today/tomorrow.
He can't just axe the guy without another to replace him. Believe me he wants his stamp on this team, but he's not a defensive guy and he's talking to people. Just yesterday it came out the three former D coordinators were contacted. Doesn't sound like Coyle is staying to me. Give it time.
I think this describes the situation perfeclty. There is no one in house qualified and to find some one outside the organization to take it on at this point is extremelly difficult.
