Like others have pointed out that was long before he was even appointed.

On the question at hand, well, as some of you already know I kinda support the guy, but I do agree that unless he actually picked Philbin himself he should have been fired along with everyone else.

If Philbin and the scheme changes were forced into him by Ross then he should have been fired and Ross should have found a personnel guy that was actually part of the project.

A GM forced into panic mode due to the imperative "win now" mentality after having been on the job since '08 added to all the roster turn over caused by the scheme changes is a recipe for disaster.

I agree that Ireland is not a bad GM when it comes to picking players.....he's just an awful person...if he was exceptional at picking players then we could live with the awful person....
