I was just wondering what everyones thoughts were on this. We are obviously going after Manning and that in turn could mean we miss out on Flynn if it drags on too long. So how long is too long to chase him?

I think we should try to get this guy signed and delivered when he comes in for a visit. If he leaves without signing then give up I guess.

I would really hate it if we missed out on both.

Flynn can't be signed until Free Agency starts next week. Manning is available to be signed right now. I think we'll know where we stand with him well before FA opens. This is the best case scenario with us. If we don't get Peyton, we'll know well before Flynn is even available to sign...

This.

As I understand it Free Agency does not start until March 13th at 4pm. So...we have 6 days to wine, dine, and sign Manning. I would hope we would have it figured out one way or the other by then.

I agree, I do not really want to see it drag out into the free agency period and potentially hold up other deals we may be looking at.

1. Option 1....make P. Manning a really great offer and tell him we would appreciate an answer soon, without pissing him off.
2. Option 2 .....talk to Flynn, show him the facilities, and tell him we are very interested.
3. Hopefully Manning gives us a quick yes or no...if NO, we have to grab Flynn.....
4. Option 3....if Manning and Flynn both go elsewhere, we stick with Matt Moore and draft someone like Tannehill/Weeden.
5. Option 4......draft a QB next year.

I like Option 1 the best.

Whats the rush for Manning? Why does HE need to sign right away? He has stated that he wants to go somewhere with Reggie Wayne so that would mean he wont sign until Wayne can.

I think you are just looking at BEST case scenario for us.

The longer we go after Manning, and leave Flynn on the market, the more we'll have to overpay to get Flynn if we don't land Manning. His market value will go up.

I can't believe that this is the year we finally get our QB. It's almost too good to be true. 1) Peyton Manning 2) Matt Flynn 3) RG3 4) Tannenhill 5) Cousins

What is it about Flynn? He played 2 games in the NFL for greenbay with all thier players. Why is Flynn so hot after 2 games?

Best QB on the market after Manning. FA is very weak at QB this offseason.

Again, if the guy who knows him best, Philbin, wants him, then I'm behind signing Flynn with some reasonable degree of confidence

.. but until we know that for sure, I'd strongly debate using the term "miss out" when it comes to a 7th round pick from an awful college QB program with limited, albeit noteworthy performancse within an offensive machine and against 2 spotty defensive backfields. :idk:

Warren Sapp thinks Manning signs quickly so he can get started. From seeing Manning and how he prepares over the last 14 years, I tend to agree with him.

It is in Manning's best interests to sign before FA start because he needs his team to know what other holes are on the roster and have the time to fill them. Manning has very little time left in his career. He needs the team he is signing with to be as ready to compete for a title as possible. If he drags this out into FA, he is limiting his new team's ability to improve the team around him. Plus, he loses suitors. Someone is going to sign Flynn, Orton, Henne, and Young. He is going to want to dictate where he goes, not be dictated to. I can almost guarantee he will be on a new team before FA starts...

MIAMI, i/m/o will "miss out" on FLYNN only if Coach PHILBIN is NOT so high on FLYNN after all.
