Just curious as to how long you think Wayne will give Saban to right the ship. Personally, I say you can't get rid of him until we go through another season without improvement.

If the team shows no improvement next year then its time for a change.

I'm not sure what you meant by right the ship. Playoffs? Winning record? Improvement? To me I'm looking for how he fills out our roster next year. I think he needs two more years to have his team. I generally believe a Coach can replace approximately 15 players a season when he's revamping a team so by next year he'll have most of his own players and in two years they're all his responsibility.

Obviously the record will play a part but what I'm looking for is fire and heart. I want a team that I can be proud of. So knowing how injuries and lucky bounces and bad calls can effect a record I'll go by what the product looks like. If I see the makings of a ferocious defense and a potent offense Ill be happy

2 more years and he will have this ship going in the right direction.

Doubt he'll be around in another couple years. If it takes him 2 more years to even get started in the right direction hes a bad coach, Anyone who takes 4 seasons to do so is a bad coach , not just saban.

Next year, there needs to be substantial improvement from this year or there will be a change after that.

He has to finish at least 10-6 next year or he WILL AND SHOULD be gone. Wayne Huizenger said he expected to be a playoff team this year and obvuiously that's not happening. He will not make the same mistake he made keeping Wannstedt a year too long, he will get rid of this hoax.

Like it or not the benchmark for improvement is by the end of year three. IMHO there are times, especially as low as we came from post 2004, when four may do more justice. But, that would be if there was steady improvement.

In other words it would be a different story if hypothetically we ended up like 6-10 last year then creeped up to 8-8 or 9-7 by the end of this year and then '07 stayed at 8-8 and 9-7 with one last chance for improvement in '08. But, this year was a regression. Now, Saban is in a hole. 10-6 or bust is a bit tough on the scale. I say no less than 9-7 in '07 which means MAYBE playoffs or just missed. If that happened that I would set up '08 as the do or die year. With five years on the contract Wayne H. might let a year walk or Saban may have an oppty to set up a another chance somewhere else in NFL. If he fails ultimately here I feel that there are some teams that would be interested in him as a DC.

Don't compare Wanny to Saban . . . please. Saban is trying to fix a mess left by Wanny, Wanny was given an all - pro defense before their prime and drove the team into the ground, kind of like his start and finish with Chicago.

Obviously if next year we are in a similar predicument, there is cause for concern, but I think u gotta atleast give him 2 more years, and if there is no improvement, then maybe its time to go in another direction. However we are basing this on a season that isn't even over yet, I hate this kind of talk when there is 9 games left, I don't care what the record is.

Not fair comparing Saban to Wanny even if we have regressed this year. I personally see a turnaround the rest of the way and improvement next year so that would throw out comparisons.

And, Wayne did not keep Wanny around one more year longer; more like two years! If he could not get the 2002 Dolphins back into the playoffs he did not deserve the chance for another year in 2003.

If you really want to know how long it'll take to rebuild from Wannstedt's mess, look at how long it took Chicago to get where they are now after Wannstedt left.

That said, I think we can improve faster than the Bears did. I give Saban another two years.

I care what our record is and I'm sure most fans care what their team record is. I want to win. Maybe you don't so you can accept this but I really can't.

Yea I mean that 2002 team was a team where a blind man could have coached this team into the playoffs. It was Baltimore 2000 in a nutshell. Top Defense, with by far the top RB at the time, 7 pro bowlers, probably a better QB in Fiedler (Trent was ok, did the job, but I think Fiedler had more intangibles), great FG kicker . . I mean that was a Super Bowl team that Jimmy pretty much built and Wanny let us go 9-7 with terrible coaching decisions thru out the year, especially in the final 2 games of that season when it counted the most.

Saban doesn't have near that team, he has a bunch of old timer vets on D, w/ an unproven offense, and it takes time to build. However, there needs to be some improvement shown this year definetly . . . and in fairness to Nick, he has been in every game this year. Its not like this team has been getting dismantled every game, just a few plays here and there. I mean this team could be 0-7 or honestly this team could be 7-0, thats how close its been.

Now if Nick doesn't win another game the next year and a half, then obviously there has to be change, I mean thats people thinking it seems like. But lets finish this season and see what the offseason and draft is like, and go into next season hopefully with a healthy QB and see if we can compete.

At the VERY least two more. Miami isn't one, two or even three players away yet. I'll start moaning and groaning in 2009.
