Just trying to get some opinions on how long it will take to Ginn Jr to become one of our top 2 wide receivers. Please feel free to comment why you voted a particular way.

I think he will work mostly in the slot this year. Maybe if he shows a lot of improvement he will give either Chambers or Booker a breather out wide. But I don't think he will start until next year. I see Booker being out next year in favor of Ginn and Hagan. And even though Ginn won't start this year, I think he will be a very valuable piece of the offense.

I thought Chambers is being moved back to the slot this year as that is where he is most effective.

If Ginn is not starting at one of the 3 spots on the very first snap of the very first game, then he truly was drafted too high. The #9 pick in an area of need, must get on the field.

Geez - that sounds just like what we said about Jason Allen.

I think Chambers will get time in the slot this year. And when that happens Ginn should be the flanker. You don't have to be a starter to be effective and worthy of a high pick. Where was Reggie Bush picked last year? How many games did he start ahead of Deuce McAllister?

Yah, but Reggie is a RB drafted to a team with a stud RB already in place. Whereas Ginn is a PR/KR/WR and we don't have a stud WR on the roster.

When you have as many holes as we do, and you are picking in the top 10, that player had better be on the field from the get go (unless it's a QB) - or you picked the wrong player/position.

Well you could argue that the Saints had a bunch of holes as well. They were picking 2nd compared to our 9th.

I think Ginn will be on the field from the get go just like Bush. It just may not be in the typical starter's capacity. And remember, despite poor showings last year, Chambers and Booker have made probowls in the past. They aren't scrubs.

lets get the guy healthy first, if we can hang around record wise by the middle of the year he could start helping us

Next year he'll get a chance to compete for the starter. IMO he's a slot WR in the league...just my opinion.

I really don't think that a standard WR was a "need" for us, I think what we "needed" was SPEED and EXPLOSIVENESS and HOMERUN ABILITY. I think that's why we drafted Ginn (and also Booker later) and that's what we are trying to add to our offense.

When it comes to "starting" WRs it's hard to say what is what, because depending on formation there may be 2, 3, or even 4 WRs out there for the first play. As for Ginn, I think he will contribute right away as a WR, but he will not get as many snaps as CC or MB.

The question is when will he be a top 2 WR on this team, not when we are running a 3 or 4 WR set or when will he be on the field.

This year Hagan will show us who is the best WR in the team. Ted Ginn will work as PR/KR, and next year he'll explode.

Ginn will not oust anyone from a starting position on our offense this year or Next. quote me on that as well
