I know the focus in the draft was adding offensive players, but a lot of new faces should play a big role on defense. I think there could be as many as 7-8 new starters on the defensive side of the ball.

Here's the obvious ones:

Mario Williams DE
Kiko Alonso MLb
Isa Adbul-Quddus S
Byron Maxwell CB

Then there are a few who are leading contenders to start:

Xavien Howard CB (unless a veteran is brought in)
Jordan Phillips DT (I think he starts)
Andre Branch DE (might start even if Wake gets more playing time)

Could challenge:

Neville Hewitt OLB (could challenge Jenkins)

That's potentially eight new starters on defense.

Our defense was awful last year. We needed an over haul

In base 7

Branch, williams, quddus, phillips, alonso, maxwell, corner opposite maxwell

Does it count if misi gets cut or traded due to his latest off field fight and Dion Jordan starts instead? I know it's a bit of a stretch but I want to get something from Jordan.

Jordan is underrated. He has had multiple impact plays in his short game time. If the commish doesn't let him train from day one, he's robbing the Dolphins.

We will have one on the D-line (I still believe Wake will start in the beginning), one at LB (maybe two if Misi continues to act like an idiot), and three at secondary (Two new corners, 1 new safety). Five new starters at defense, maybe 6 if they eventually start someone over Wake.

if you add Jordan, hopefully with decent playing time, I am more interested how many new starters and in rotation. As dolphindan said, we needed an overhaul, and combined with better scheme and coaching, at minimum we need to be able to stop the run. that's where it all begins, even for the offense. It was a gave continuity to drives and kept the offense off the field and in some ways helped abandon our plans for balance.
