Basically an offense has 5 guys who can catch or run the ball (6 if you count QB). The defense basically has 7 players to neutralize them. Basic numbers game here. How many skill position players do we have, that you would allocate 2 of your defensive players to, if you were the other teams DC?

Say we line up in 11 package with Stills, Wilson, Grant, Gesicki, and Drake (replace one with DVP if you feel he is the better option). It is third and five from the 50. Likely a passing situation but you can’t ignore the run. Dolphins are up by 7 with 10 minutes left in game. Another TD dooms your team but a punt doesn’t kill the Dolphins. Keep in mind we could try and convert on fourth down if we get, say 3 yards on the ground.

To make it interesting use the Dolphins defense, spell out your alignment, and who covers who. Discuss probability of preventing a first down with a slant towards other teams ability to do so.

Probably Parker if he steps up. Thats a big if though. Its really going to be the combination of players that gets them all open.

For example you have Parker, Stills, Geisecki on verticals, Wilson on a quick slant, and Drake in the flat. Theres going to be an opening there.

Maybe Gesicki or Parker in the future.

Maybe Grant if he can start getting used more and utilize that insane speed

no one, that kind of intrigues me though. We are either going to suck this year or be pretty darn good. I'm hopeful though.

You guys are depressing me. I’d think at least Stills commands safety help. Figure you have Tank on Stills, Xman on Grant/DVP, McCain on Wilson. Call Mink and Jones the FS and SS. Backers could be Kiko and Baker who have to account for Gesicki and Drake. I don’t see anyway the LB’s are holding up without help if Tanny has 2.5 secs or more to throw. Maybe Baker can carry Drake. No way Kiko can carry Gesicki IMHO.

But if Dolphin fans think none of our WR’s can beat a CB lined up in MEG then I guess I can see why Vegas feels as they do.

Lets just say that Stills opens things up for everyone else with his speed but this year we'll have more speed with Wilson and Grant so you're gonna have plenty of one on one and we should be able to mismatch some of our guys.

How on earth is anyone going to double team any of our pass catchers? If parker becomes a glimpse of what we think he should be then there's no way you can double anyone. If you double anyone you're leaving someone open that's going to run right past your whole D.

I hope D's plan on doubling Stills, parker or gisecki

Considering the amount of speed we have defenses are going to have to keep guys over the top. It won’t be a classic double team, but defenses will be worried. Work underneath routes and you maybe break some tackles & go for 6. Or, wait until they start to creep up and bam, you get some open deep balls.

This offense more than anything else is dictated upon QB intelligence and accuracy more than anything else. It’s TH’s final chance to show the goods. Let’s see how it goes. Could go either way.

Wrong question.

Its all about speed.

Which of our speed players can turn us into a big play team.

Grant, Stills, Drake, Ballage, Gisecki, Albert Wilson - that is some serious speed and power. A broken tackle and the big play opportunities will be there.

Teams can no longer stack the box - This team is going to have multiple dimensions to screw you into the ground.

Our main issue is Tannehills pocket awareness and accuracy to hit players in stride. If he is somewhat successful at both this team is going to FINALLY score real points.

Stills usually demand a cb with safety help and gesicki definitely has the potential to draw doubles in the future.

Maybe Gesicki...none of our wrs are scaring any one.

None of them Command a double team, but we have some guys that can take the top off of a defense so I don't think we'll see a lot of single coverage with no deep safety looks
