While reading an article, I read a comment to the article and it got me to wonder, so I thought I would shall it with you guys and see what you think..

If the Dolphins move to #2, the pick is Thomas, not a QB.

Do you agree and why?

I would say NO.....we need help at QB more than we need an O-lineman. We scored 16 points a game last year....our problem is mainly at QB....but I would still love Thomas. I say we give Matt Millen Ricky and our 9th and he gives us his 2nd pick.

I disagree.

There are a few really good offensive lineman in this draft and Houck loves Alabi enough to release any other LT possibility (other than Shelton and Carey if you count them) and not sign anyone in free agency, with no guarantee of getting a good LT in the draft.

Not that Houck makes the moves and cuts guys obviously, but he has to have input on the offensive line guys and who we should keep.

Just IMO. It seems like every year there is a new great LT coming out and not all of them have been successful lately. If we traded to #2 and Oakland took Russell I would personally hope we took Calvin Johnson, but I would think we would take Quinn.

Again just MY opinion. I could be wrong and Thomas would be a great pick.

I would agree unless Calvin Johnson is still there. To me, Thomas and Johnson are the only two no miss propsects.

Other reasons why Thomas: we need a franchise OLT and he easily fits that bill with his ability to both run and pass block. He has top flight skills, strength, and technique and as long as he is injury free he could solve OLT for the next 10 years.

The only players worthy of the #2 pick are Calvin Johnson, JaMarcus Russell, and Joe Thomas. It appears most probable that either CJ or JR go off the board at #1.

The big if here is that if you trade to #2 and CJ is available - do you really want to pass on that guy?

Yeah, if we traded up like that we would take Quinn or Johnson. If you're trading up to #2, you've got to pick a skill player. That's an awful lot of picks/players to give up to draft a player that doesn't touch the football...

I agree. LTs are even harder to find than QBs. I have Thomas rated above both Quinn and Russell. And the chances that either DC or Lemon are the answer at QB is greater than the cahnce that Alabi is the answer at LT.

It has been stated in the media that Mueller does not..

like to pick offensive linemen in the first round. This guy is likely worthy of the pick, but based on tendencies of general manager, I would say QB or WR because he likes selecting QBs and speed.

Just MHO, but I would not want us to trade up that high and take Thomas. No way. If we do trade up, I would rather it be for CJ or Quinn, thats the only players i would want us to trade up for. I personally feel that it will be easier to find a starting LT in the draft easier than a franchise QB or possibly the best WR in a few years.

No, I actually worry this guy is a bit overrated like, Tony Mandarich, Robert Gallery of the past. I'm not saying he will bust, but theres enough to keep me from moving up for him.

One year removed from major knee surgery, not always aggresive and somewhat of a lack of killer instinct, lack of strength (especially in the lower body), and he tends to play with a narrow base at times.

I'm not saying he won't be good, I'm just saying he is not a sure thing as an elite player.

If I move up its for Calvin Johnson or Brady Quinn.

I agree. I was thinking the same thing. Robert Gallery was supposed to be such a stud and a sure hit pick and he has been a BUST so far. If we trade up it must be for CJ. You would be foolish to not draft this guy.

Do you agree and why?

Yes. He would start TODAY. And fills our main need. We already have Culpepper and Lemon at QB. And we can use a later round pick on a developmental QB like Stanton, Edwards, or Kolb.

You can't find another LT prospect later in the draft like you can say a QB prospect.

If they're staring CJ, Quinn, and Thomas in the face and they choose Thomas I'll be slightley dissapointed. Just with Houck's ability to find late round gems and the depth in this years draft of O-lineman. IMO CJ and Quinn are the more exciting picks and should be considered over Thomas. But atleast whoever we pick out of the 3 they would solidify there position for atleast 10 years.

I doubt we'll move up at all but if we move up to #2 which would cost a lot it'd not be to take Thomas...it'd be to take 1 of the 2 QB's or CJ...in the end I hope we don't move up as we need the picks.

Ozzy rules!!
