That by seasons end, we had 5-6 back-ups in permanent starting positions.

There is no excuse for the type of meltdown we had, but one must realize when your entire starting LB unit is injured and then you're starting 4th, 5th, and off the street guys as your #2/#3 CB positions you're going to suffer - not to mention having Jimmy Wilson as a nickle corner and then worse, a starting safety.

We underperformed down the stretch (across the board, coaching, offense, defense, gameplanning), but to put the blame on the D is silly. Every year I think we focus too much on defensive shortcomings when we haven't resemble a competent offense for a full season IN TWO DECADES.

Fix the OL first and foremost.

i totally agree with you here... and i know that we were quite injured throughout the year. The problem is, is that there is reoccurring issues over the past few years... stemming from our D-Line who plays amazing and then disappears for the second half. Our LB squad as well gets lost and cant fill holes... remember the GAPING holes that RBs were able to easily get through for massive yards a gain, as LBs are 5-7 yards away from the line.

I agree injuries were an issue. We need more depth.

The Dolphins have been collapsing in December for MUCH longer than 2 decades.

Historically, they would start good and finish bad, this is even when Marino and Shula were here.

I think defense is the right place to look though. The D line didn't put enough pressure or stop the run enough.

They need to stick with their plan, draft players and develop them.

If they manage to draft 2-3 more players like Landry and Juwan but on the D the entire team will play better

The dline was pretty bad though and nobody was hurt there. I agree about the injuries to the secondary.

you can set your watch to this

Maybe you should follow your own advice

"please either add something of value or leave if you have nothing"

If you are implying the defense collapsed in 2013 I would have to call you on that.

Still though.. next man up. Arizona were pretty beat up and still made the playoffs.

Our last game was a real stinker against a team we could've beaten.

We rotated 3 DTs all season...they wore down.

I would go all in on offense myself...we've been trying to build this shutdown defense since Wannstedt was here and he used to draft defensive player after defensive player early. Unless we plan on winning games 16-14 or 20-16 every week we need to take advantage of the NFL rules which are completely slanted towards scoring more points. Fix the O-line, draft a big WR, draft a RB, re-sign Clay...and possibly draft a 2nd WR to help in the return game and be the 4th WR (since Matthews doesn't seem to be taking this job serious).

I wholeheartedly agree but many may consider the injuries as part of the 2nd half collapse.

We need more Depth no doubt but we also need guys that are physical and can hold up for the entire year.To me we are a soft team and can play good in spurts but the physicality we need isn't there.

They started the season 9-1...they finished 2-4. They scored a total of 73 points in the last 6 games.
