Saban has made it very clear that he is not willing to sacrifice the future for success on the short term level. But do you think Saban is ready to sacrifice things in the short term in exchange for the future? OR will Saban try to avoid sacrificing either and try to balance it all?

I'm just wondering what you guys think Saban thinks Leinart is worth? Is he worth this years 1st rounder, later round pick and next years 1st rounder? If we give all that up, how far back does that set us at other positions? Will we be better off in the future?

I personally think that it is worth it to give up whatever we need to get Leinart. If a trade to get Leinart gets us a franchise QB then we need to do it. Even if it leaves us weak in other areas. In my opinion, it is alot easier to get production out of other positions with solid but not great players. That just can't be done with the QB though. Look at where the Giants are now that they traded for Manning, they gave up alot but it has worked out for them and now they have a franchise QB. I obviously would rather we get our franchise QB from our normal pick but it looks like we might just miss out. I believe desperate times call for desperate measures. and I truly believe that our QB position is desperate. So we need to do what we can to get Leinart even if it leaves us weak at other positions for the time being.

Nada,id draft DBrick Ferguson and hope Cutler still is on board to draft him in the 2nd.

That sounds better to me too. Or maybe throw some AJ Hawk in there.

Leinart might turn out to be a pretty good QB, but I wouldnt take him in the top 5. I dont see him as a franchise type player.

2 1st round picks.

This years draft is so good in the 1st 2 rounds compared to what we need as a team that trading 2 1st rounders would be a steal IMO. Yeah you lose next years 1st rounder but having a franchise QB is too good to pass up.

If you can get a special player at a spot where you have nothing, you've got to find a way to do it.

Get Leinart.

My left testicle.... That's right.... Dedication.

I'd support that, his left testicle for Leinart. :rofl3:

I'd give this year's and next year's first.

I'd give up 2 1st rounders. Ask any Bengals, Colts, Giants fan if they think it'd be worth it if they had to trade 2 1st rounders or more to get their current QB and you'll get a unanimous answer. We can maybe package a few DLinemen like Holliday or Zgonina with our first for Leinart. Or maybe Reggie Howard.

Law of supply and demand. Our demand for a QB who can be a stud for the next 10 yrs is much much greater than our need for a franchise caliber LT. Thus the economics of it all dictate that we do what we can and pay whatever it may be to land that franchise QB. I'm no expert but, I would assume that Cutler is not on Leinart's level. That is why he is projected as a late 1st- 2nd rounder while Leinart is in the mix for the top spot in the draft. Our demand for someone like D'brickshaw Ferguson is lowered with the recent good play of Mciontosh.
