Ireland might be kicking himself in the butt these days over the Brandon Marshall trade. Lets break down the last 2 drafts after the Brandon Marshall trade.

Draft 2011. Irelands mus list last year included a running back after Ricky and Ronnie were no longer on the roster.
Ireland trades up from the 3rd round into the late second round when run on the top tier running backs began for Daniel Thomas. If Ireland had orginal 2nd round pick maybe he picks some else like Leshours from Wisconsin or Ryann Brickshaw from VT. More importantly Ireland admited after the draft that he attempted to trade back into the 3rd round to aquire Ryann Mallett. With a Ryann Mallet on the team last year removes the need to draft a QB this year. Ireland would also would have had an additional 5th and 7th round in last years draft to use also in that trade.

Draft 2010. Irelands must list in this draft linebacker.
Ireland trades back in round 1 take Odrick to gane back his 2nd round pick that he used on the OLB MSI. If that trade is not made there were other higher rated player like Earl from Texas avialable in the 1st round. Odrick while talented had a bit of a injury bug in college gets injured his rookie year. If Ireland has that 2nd round pick in the 2010 draft that was higher than the one he used on Msi you could also assume Ireland may have drafted a higher rated OLB.

Marshall definitly caught a lot of balls for us but he certianily undermined Henne when givin the chance and took a couple of shots at Moore. Hard to have a winning team when your star player is underming the most important position on the team with his behavior. Blame it all on Henne if you like but flip that additude around on Marshalls part maybe those 2 years we get 2 more wins each year.

At this point we will not know the true loss of Marshall until we spend those 2 3rd round draft picks. Except maybe Tony Sporano might still be here for what ever that is worth and Ireland might not be on the hot seat so much. Just something to think about.

i think we should have got more for him, but if the coaching staff and fo didnt want him then he needed to go. the guy is a head case and has butter fingers. he dropped like twice as many td passes than he actually cost. and if you think about it how games was he an impact in?

Prediction......at the stage we are at now......two third, rounders, are worth more to us then BM. We are not close, and need to build.
ireland just has to use the picks correctly. If I were him, once a QB is secured, I would trade out of both spots for future higher picks.
See: Patriots Draft Strategy.

the pats always get a ton of picks but no succuss with them except the two te's they got. how many starters have they drafted?

I think the OP should have gone into the position in the draft of the 2nds we gave away, compared to the 3rds we got back. I believe the 2nds were probably very good picks...because we sucked, while the picks we get will be from Chicago, who is a playoff team...

Brandon Marshall may end up suspended for a good amount of games.

A case of tylenol for Ireland and the coachng staff and a happier Miami police dept. Sorry, I just had to.

Remember guys that two thirds can be combined to move up in this draft so dont look at it as were stuck with two thirds. Just think of it as options

People forget that we actually got production from Marshall. I am glad he's gone personally. A good analogy is buying a car. You buy it and selling a car. You purchase it at 25k and sell it after its older, less reliable for 15k. Your cost was 10k but you also got a few years of use out of it. Most people are just viewing this as trading 2-2nds for2-3rds.

well it needs to be said that trading marshall probably saved us at least 6 personal foul penalties.

If Marshall were a car he'd be an exotic like a Lamborghini. Flashy and fast but extremely high maintenance and often in the shop.

Yeah he's a wife beater. Any man that hits a woman in the face is basically next to, or the lowest form of life out there.

Especially this kind of hitting. He was arrested for reportedly striking a lady in the face outside a night club. WOW.

This guy has millions of dollars for playing a sport and he puts it all on the line just being at the nightclub. Then he reportedly punches a lady in the face?! Even if its not true I am glad he's gone just on the allegation.

Great move Ireland - get that time bomb out of Miami and off our team. And quite frankly we are lucky to a pack of cigarettes for this wife beater. See ya!

good points.however a cancer cured on the team is better for the team as a whole.we get to find someone in the draft that will fit the wco that bm would of had fits with .he was a me me me player imagine if hartline caught more passes or bess than bm he would never shut the **** up

I'm still surprised that some think Ryan Mallet on our roster would mean we are set at QB.

Lets not forget to throw in dropped TD passes when discussing Marshall. I think he's great when he's making plays, but damn there is LOTS of luggage there as well....
