With former Patriots assistant Brian Flores as head coach and two former Patriots assistants as coordinators, will the Dolphins’ offensive and defensive philosophies mirror New England’s? And will Flores try to mimic Bill Belichick?

Cornerback Eric Rowe, who spent two years with Flores in New England (including one with Flores as de facto coordinator last season) was eager to see, after he joined the Dolphins in March, whether Flores would essentially become another Belichick.

“He’s nothing like Bill personality-wise. What I see on the practice field, Bill is more quiet, will say stuff when he has to. Out here, Flo is fiery, getting everybody’s juices up. He brings a lot of energy.”

That was a good article, thanks for posting it. I’m encouraged to see Flores say he is his own man, though influenced by some great leaders. I think that is a character trait that many people fail at, self awareness and knowing their own ambitions among the various impulses impressed upon them.

He presents himself much better than mcdaniels/Patricia do. neither has shown the ability to be their own man in regards to coaching. So far we have no issues like Detroit had last year. At least Flores has proven to be an outside the box thinker

The worst thing he could do is to try to be like BB. It's good to use some of the things he learnt there but he needs to be himself and it seems like so far he's been himself.

Those others all have this sort of unearned arrogance about them. Flo hasn’t really displayed any of that yet.

Yes this is where most Pat's assistants fail. They try to do what BB did and act how he acts. I hate to use this saying but "real recognizes real" if it is an act people will see through it.

The biggest take away again (and it is noticeable in the preseason) is the talk of everything being situational. Flores has used the preseason mainly to see how players react in different situations. I feel in the past we didnt really focus on situational football during camp. Did we run 2 minute drills and red zone drills? Yes. But I there is a difference between running drills and emphasizing the situation if that makes sense.

But it's a big Patriot trait. It's how you have random guys both offensively and defensively have hot streaks where they look like the next big thing and then disappear just as quickly

that's a batter way to put it. The other two assumed success and were very threatened by anyone who did not follow the "patriot way". McDaniels thinks he will just step in and be Belichick 2.0. He was afraid of the Colts job because he did not want to find a franchise QB if lick went down.

The jury is out on Patricia but when I watched the game Thursday he seemed very disconnected from his players. He sat behind his Gatorade fort and had no interaction with his players. But we will see.

Flores - "We're not trying to be the Patriots"
Players - he's showing us take of Patriots players and telling us to play like them

But what happens when things do not go Flores way? Will his emotions get the best of him. Miami's press has eaten our past coaches alive! Time will tell and we will all find out.
