The old football saying is the best ability is availability. Gase admitted that he believes in that saying, too. As of this Sunday, Tannehill will have missed 24 of his past 29 starts, including playoffs, dating to the end of the 2016 season.

"Availability is the No. 1 thing that you’re always looking for in the NFL because if you’re not on the field, you can’t really help us," Gase said.

I’m sick of Tannehill this Tannehill that. Time to dump him and his fat contract. I’m seriously over him as starting qb, don’t even want to see him return even when he is healthy.

Check out some Derek Anderson QB play from the Bills Monday night...

And, reportedly, Tannehill is one of the main reasons Gase took the Miami job.

For this year, doesn't really matter as long as they don't need the roster spot. For the future, not much longer.

Until you can realistically bring in a young player who can develop behind or take the job from him. Have to draft one first..

Even then, do you think any rookie would realistically beat him in an offseason competition? Unlikely.

BUT if RT gets hurt again it would be nice to toss in a talented rookie to take his lumps and let him start the following year.

Here is the thing, first we can't just dump his contract as there is a lot of dead money. Second, the draft class of QBs was not good last year and doesn't look great this year.....especially when you are selecting in the middle of the pack. Third, this team still has much bigger issues than the QB so trading players or picks to get up to a QB that may be a franchise style QB is not a good move. I wish we could get lucky like the Pats and Seahawks did with Brady and Wilson. Our bad drafting over the last decade and beyond has really bit us in the butt!

You can dump his contract and designate it as a post June 1st cut, which is exactly what they will do.
