I'd love to say 10 more years but, that's not realistic. Zack is 32, JT is 31 and each has a contract until they are 35. Their combined cap hit is over $18M this year and, because of age, I can't see a renegotiation.

I can see both staying this year and the next. Past that, because of money and age, may be very questionable.

I just hope they have a ring to bring to their induction to the ring at the stadium.

Your thoughts?

I would just like for them to be leaders for a change and keep the team in line instead of some newbies like Carter and Holliday calling the team out. Nothing against Carter and Holliday I will always be greatful for them helping turn the year around last year but I always thought that should be ZT and JT's job.

Some lead by example, walking the walk to the Pro Bowl, but are not talkers.

I look for Mad Matt to do some "talking" this year.

Sometimes you have to give some people a kick in the tail though becuase of the arrogance some of these athletes have.

I'd love for them to maybe renegotiate the contracts, save us some cap room, and both play until they are 34 or 35.

And of course, retire and join the HOF as Miami Dolphins!~

My guess is ZT and JT will either be approached to redo their contracts during next off season or they will be leveraged for lower priced/lower quality players and draft picks. I would imagine the likelihood of this depends upon how our younger LB's and DE's mature and/or how strong the free agent market is at those positions next year. Mueller and Saban cannot reasonably expect to replace those two players with a drop-off in production. However, if the new players they get cost only a third of what JT and ZT cost and produce at a rate of about two-thirds, then that allows the team to shore up other positions and improve the overall quality of the team. I guess it comes down to how much ZT and JT want to stay in Miami and how reasonable Saban/Mueller et al., want to be during renegotiations.

Very good points but, I don't see how you can extend and redo contracts that run until they are both 35. It seems that Wanny and Rick eliminated that option.

Also, with the union, FORGET ABOUT A PAY CUT.

i hope they play their entire nfl career as dolphins and that they get their rings before they leave the game. i'd hate to see them do a seau route, by choice or otherwise. they've been much too valuable to the team to go out like that. i hope they'll work out deals with the management when the time comes. i hate to even think about the possibilities of them leaving the team and putting on another uniform. ****, i'm getting upset just thinking about it.

I think they could be Dolphins for 3 or 4 more years. If they want to retire Dolphins they will renegotiation there deals.

Well, definitely this season. Probably next too. I think JT will stick around a year or 2 beyond Zach. It all comes down to health and productivity which are pretty good thus far :-)

Sad to say, but the reality is that they're getting to an age where players start to break down physically a little more. And I don't think Nick would be reluctant to replace anyone he felt was starting to slide. Fortunately I think they've got a couple more in the tank.

I hope you're right. This year and the next should be special.

I don't think Saban is going to deal with this the same way JJ dealt with Dan the Man.

Probably 34 but if they win a superbowl this year maybe untill 36 or 37

10 years is unrealistic.

Hard choices follow in the next 2-3 years. JT will stick longer than ZT.

Zach is great. The problem with undersized guys with brains bigger than thier bodies...They know what they want to do, but, can't pull the trigger as they get older. ZT should be instantly brought back as an LB coach. Heart, film study, etc. ZT will be a GREAT coach. He understands the game, and, respects it......His body will fail permanantly within 2 years, I think. JMO........Don't flame.......JMO.

JT can play for 2-5 more years at a reasonably high level, IMO. He's light in the buttocks, and, I think he'll break down earlier than most, but, he's ligit. It all depends on circumstance.

I realize its football, but if someone told me I was old at 30 i'd probably kick their butt
