I was just curious to see how much money Jake Long or whoever could possibly be looking at getting if taking Parcell's offer and signing at #1:

2007

1. JaMarcus Russell
6 year - $68M - $31.5M Guarnteed ($5.25M Yearly Avg. Guarnteed)

2. Calvin Johnson
6 year - $64M - $27.2M Guarnteed ($4.53M Yearly Avg. Guarnteed)

3. Joe Thomas
5 year - $43M - $23M Guarnteed ($4.6M Yearly Avg. Guarnteed)

2006

1. Mario Williams
6 year - $54M - $26M Guarnteed ($4.33M Yearly Avg. Guarnteed)




My best assumption would be around this range:

6 years - $67M - $29M Guarnteed ($4.83M Yearly Avg. Guarnteed)

Which is probably around the neighborhood of what Parcell's is offering Jake Long since it would be a little less then Russell (who got a QB premium), but probably higher than he would get if taken at #2 with St. Louis.

Very good. I was thinking $29 million guarunteed also because it makes a point to be below $30 million. Last year it was, "JaMarcus Russell gets over $30 million in guarunteed money!" headlines, when this year we wouldn't hit that benchmark

I dont know. I really have a feeling that is what Parcell's is pushing for with whoever signs, is that there guarnteed money is under $30M. And if our guy gets under $30M, the number #2 pick will absolutely not get more than that.
