I've read a lot of posts saying that this player and that player are not a Philbin's "type of guy" and just wonder with Tannanbaum, Hickey, etc., how much say he has on player decisions?

Anyone know?

It's an interesting question, because if Philbin would be directing the offseason acquisitions, is he strictly making all short-term investment decisions as though this is indeed his final year? Or would he have some long-term developmental prospects in there for 2016?

I guess it depends on how much of that "confidence" from Ross, Philbin actually buys into.

No one knows with any certainty accept those working within the organization. Unless of course they are neighbors with Jeff Ireland.

if it was a bad move, Philbin was 100% at fault. if it was a good move, he had nothing to do with it.

Take your pick.

Half of FH says he is the reason Reggie, Dansby, etc are no longer with the team. Yet, he couldnt get Irish to bring in Albert.

:idk:

It's a lot easier to get rid of someone than it is to bring someone in... If you believe Philbin desperately wanted Albert, the mere fact that the trade negotiations got as far as they did points to Philbin's influence.

The coach obviously influences the construction of the roster, good and bad. It would be illogical to believe otherwise.

If the player works out, it will be because Joe picked him.

If the player fails, it will be the fault of Hickey or Tannenbaum.

I know this works around here now.

Remember simpler times when Shula and JJ wanted a player or did not want a player, and it was a done deal with no questions asked?

Now, it's Tannenbaum, Hickey, Philbin, maybe a bit from Marino, and let's not forget our "Spirit In The Sky" advisory council, the "Red Dawn" and God only knows who else.

Very confusing for Phans, and likely all of the above "Players" in the game.

It would also be illogical to believe he got rid of Jake Long when the Dolphins offered Long more money than St. Louis did.

Queue the "Long didn't want to play for Philbin" crowd. We made out in that scenario...Long has been a disaster for the Rams and a key reason why Bradford can't finish a season.

You guys are going to drive yourselfs crazy. The off season has just barely started. Stop worrying so much about things we can't do nothing about.

Actually Long left cause he felt Ireland didn't want him back according to the conversation martin had with Pouncy.
