Does anyone know what investment these celebrities made.

well if the team is worth around 1 billion dollars. if ross gives even 5% of the team away, thats what 50 mil? i dont know exactly how it works. get nublar in here. im sure he has the formula. my analysis is based of elementary statistics.

I think the Estefans bought 2% of the team, which is roughly $20 million. Not sure how much Marc Anthony bought, but I think it is believed to be less then what the Estefans got. Jimmy Buffett didn't buy into the team at all, he is just tied in with the stadium naming rights. I don't think Venus and Serena Williams would have spent a huge amount, I would say they got about 0.5% to 1% of the team at around $5-10 million.

Really, it isn't that much of the team. People complain, but remember this, Wayne Huizenga still owns 5% of the team. Which means he likely still owns a bigger amount of the team then all these celebrities combined.

I'm currently in negotiations With Ross to buy 0.0001% of the team.
I wish we could, but Ross said today that can't happen.

Q. Why not sell a one share to the fans or season ticket holders? I don't think you can do that in the NFL.

A. Ross: That isn’t allowed in the NFL, you’re limited to I think 25 owners and it’s not the kind of thing [where] you want a public company. They don’t allow public companies. Someone has to be able to make all the decisions without going to a board or anybody else, which I think is good, because that way you get decisions made. You don’t have fights within different teams which certain sports have, you know divisions. I’m prepared to take all the blame, but still the fans we love them and they’re the most important thing we have. I want to make sure they feel good about the team.

He's wrong. And he's now made himself look like an even bigger idiot.

"The Packers are now the only publicly owned company with a board of directors in American professional sports."

Ross is right, it is against the current rules. The Packers did this before the rules changed.

Green Bay is the only team with this form of ownership structure in the NFL; such ownership is technically in direct violation of league rules, which stipulate a limit of 32 owners of one team and one of those owners having a minimum 30% stake. However, the Packers corporation was grandfathered when the NFL's current ownership policy was established, and are thus exempt.

It cost roughly an old fingernail clipper and a box of chiclets....plus or minus 20 mil!

Something that wasn't brought up here was the reason why he's selling small shares of the team away. Partly it's to cater to the diverse fan base, but also the fact that he admittedly knows he will not make money off the team anytime soon. He bought the team for $1 billion when the economy was beginning to tank. It will take a while before the Fins are worth over $1 billion again. Where he will make money is off the stadium, the team is really just a passion for him.

Correct me if I'm wrong. This is just my take on the situation.

I'm going to call Ross and ask him to borrow 50 millions, I'll buy 5% with that money and I will paying the interest with my benefits each year. If he wants his money all at onces then he will have to pay me 60 millions for my 5%. How about that!!!

Actually, he bought the team when the economy was well into the ****ter and it was worth 1.1 billion. Apparently a 1% stake is worth 1.25 million, if you go by what the Estefan's and Anthony's paid, which means he is valuing the team at 1.25 billion. Something you have to remember is that sports teams are fairly recession-proof and that's largely because no matter what the economy is like a stadium is worth several hundred million on its own, plus associated property and salable items. Any fluctuation would be, at most, 100 million year to year (if you talking going from a good economy to a recession economy).

Do you honestly believe that these celebs actually paid that? I believe it was an endorsement trade off.
