Just a thought here, with all the talk of Manning being so flip-flop, I mean two contrasting reports the same day?? Come on. No one really knows, if he were fully healthy before we signed him, I'd be all for that. And as far as Flynn, I'm not sold on him entirely. RGIII can make a lot of deep passes pretty accurately, he's not entirely a typical "scrambling qb". I'm starting to like the prospect of moving up for him.
If we did that, my next moves would be to axe Bell, slide Reshad Jones to SS where he should be. Sign Cliff Avril, whom could play DE or LB in a 34 or 43. Resign Soliai if we can. It'd be good to get Langford back, but if he wants a payday we can live without him and let Odrick take over. Remember, we'll probably not exclusively use one defense, and a lot of times we'll be in nickle and such. I'd maybe think about acquiring Nelson for FS, but I wonder if our new coaching staff could work with Clemons and mold him into a better player?
Those 4/5 moves (RGIII, Avril, Nelson, Soliai/Langford) and axeing Bell don't seem to be too drastic of an offseason really. Obviously we'll have to give up a solid amount for a pick to get him but I really wonder how much.. I mean, we'd still have some picks to fill other holes like RT. If some guys were to restructure or be cut (maybe McDaniel, he makes a lot for his playing time/level) We don't really have to break the bank on anyone particularly, so we have some wiggle room as far as the remainder of who else to acquire via draft/FA
Thoughts?
edit: btw, I just have that bad feeling if we get Manning, it'll be a Trent Green situation all over. or Flynn will become one of our classic other blunders.
