I think that Nolan has enough autonomy on the defensive side here that it's not unlike being a HC in some respects. He makes the defensive decisions and can focus on what he's good at without having to worry about the offensive side of the ball, media issues, etc...that he would as a head coach. If he is compensated well enough, I think that it might be likely that he stays here regardless of our HC (unless of course, we get someone who wants to run a 4-3 defense...does anyone still run those anymore?). Any head coach would be nuts to want 'their own guy' in lieu of Nolan who has proven with multiple teams that he is in the top 3 D coordinators in the league. There's something to be said about familiarity....but there is more to be said about excellence.
