It is likely that the price tags on both Thomas and Staley are too high for General Manager Jerry Reese’s liking but another left tackle has recently been made available via trade that would be less expensive. The Miami Dolphins were reportedly going ot release Brandon Albert earlier this week but decided not too because of trade interests from teams around the league. If the Giants think Albert could fill in nicely on Eli Manning’s blindside, the move should be made as he wouldn’t cost as much as Staley or Thomas.
On the free agency front, Pro Bowler Andrew Whitworth is the clear top dog if he does not re-sign in Cincinnati (he has said he wants to). However, two other potential high-end left tackle options could be had by trade – San Francisco’s Joe Staley and Cleveland’s Joe Thomas.

The two worst teams in the NFL in 2016, the San Francisco 49ers and Cleveland Browns, both have something the Giants need: a star left tackle. With the 49ers and Browns having the first two selections in this year’s NFL Draft it makes sense that teams like New York would inquire about Joe Staley and Joe Thomas. If either one is officially made available by either team expect the Giants to be involved in the rumors after Ereck Flowers struggled at left tackle for the second straight season. It is likely that the price tags on both Thomas and Staley are too high for General Manager Jerry Reese’s liking but another left tackle has recently been made available via trade that would be less expensive.
