How severe will the punishment be?

If it's proven the Dolphins knew about some ****ed up stuff going on and they didn't do anything about it, I could see them getting in trouble for that.

If they did something about it and it continued after the fact, how is that on them? If Incognito was told to shape up at any point prior to this saga yet he did what he did anyway, cut him and move on.

Why would there be sanctions after that?

Worst case scenario is that everybody is gone... and to some that's a best case scenario. It all depends on what comes out of the investigation. Reading between the lines, Ross is extremely pissed but it is reported he doesn't want to make a decision without all the facts.

There will be some changes within the organization, it just depends on how much. Whether it is an assistant or two or the GM and head coach remains to be seen.

According to Omar though, if we don't finish with a winning record Ireland is pretty much gone as Ross was considering hitting the reset button after last year.

Good points. IF Ross wanted to start over, he sure has a pretty legit reason right now with all this craziness swirling. I'm sure he would have been torn if we finished 8-8 and missed the playoffs without cog gate. But now I'd say cleaning house might be the best route.

I think it simply hinges on whether anyone saw/heard those messages before Sunday. If so, AND it can be proved, then they are gone. If not, I do not believe there was enough happening the locker room to damn anyone, just typical hazing/pranking stuff. If Martin complained to Philbin and did not show him the messages, Philbin probably took a look around and saw Martin doing to others the same thing Incognito was doing to him. How could he punish someone that "could give it, but couldn't take it".

Schefter is now reporting that Martin never took this to Philbin. If this is the case, it only leaves Richie to be punished. He should receive a similar penalty as Riley Cooper for making racist/insensetive remarks. That happened outside of work, so the Fins are not responsible.

I don't think the team itself will be punished and Richie is currently being punished by the team....

Incognito is a free agent at the end of the season so he will be gone regardless...

Martin is the most interesting part in all of this, but I get the strong feeling that this is more about mental health and he will get treatment and be brought back to finish his contract or released and paid the remainder of his contract.

We could also self impose the stadium, tear it down as a sacrifice.

Jonathan Martin would be my all time hero.

Really? I feel very strongly that he has played his last down in a Dolphins uniform. At this point, the only thing left to deal with is how to get him out of there within the guidelines set by the CBA and with as little public relations gasoline as possible.

I think it is safe to assume that Richie Incognito and Jonathan Martin will never play another down for the Miami Dolphins again. Question becomes how severe is this going to get for the rest of the organization?

Media outlets are already connecting Philbin and Ireland to this situation, so it wouldn't shock me to see them get suspended like Goodell did to the Saints. Difference in Miami and New Orleans is that Ross probably would just fire those two if/when they get suspended.

I also wonder what type of fine and draft pick removal the NFL will put on the Dolphins. Do you think we are looking at a first round pick, or multiple mid round picks?

I assume the NFL will want to make the Dolphins an example over the bullying and harassing issue. If the Dolphins do enough to make the playoffs this season, could the NFL banish them from post-season play and go with the next team in line?

None of the above. I doubt there is any chance we lose draft picks as Bullygate is only affecting the Dolphins and not other NFL teams.

The Saints got suspended because they were told to cut it out and DID NOT. The Fins have stepped up and asked the NFL to come in ASAP. Big differences.

Plus, Ross could clean house and rid the organization of the coaching staff and FO if need be.

Exactly, and this is why as far as the NFL goes, there will be no punishment, on the other hand, after the NFL finishes their investigation, and brings it to Ross, what Ross does to some individuals he deems detrimental to the organization, will be another matter entirely.

Richie is DONE here.

Martin is probably done here.

Philbin and Ireland are out too, IMO.

Agreed on Cog and Martin, somewhat disagree disagree on Philbin and Ireland, those two will be watching for that report very closely.

I dont understand why people think this would cause philbin or Ireland to be gone. This is all on Cog, maybe Martin for not reporting it sooner. But nothing is going to happen to the coaching staff or GM.

I think it goes something like this:

Martin and Incognito - gone Whether they catch on with other teams, who cares.
Philbin and Coyle - stay
Sherman and Turner - gone, but not for the same reasons. Oh, the official reason will be lack of control or something, but Turner because he's the direct supervisor and Sherman because he's not all that great and it's an excuse to move on. Sherm takes Zac Taylor (QB coach right?) with him.
Ireland - gone Bad stuff is allowed to happen top down. If the GM was doing his job right then everyone below would be held accountable i.e. Turner. This situation is the perfect reason for Ross to make the move to someone else.

So who comes in? Marino at GM? Why would he leave a cushy TV spot? I'd say you probably take a look at prying Nick Caserio out of NE or maybe Charlie Casserly if you wanted a turn key guy.

With a new GM, comes a new head coach and so on down the line, unless Ross tells him he has to take the job and cant touch Philbin. What GM would want that restraint right off the bat???
