This. All year he’s lost starters, been forced to play starters who are really at like 70% or whatever and yet this D has bent but not broken completely. And it won a couple games / closed them out for us like Buffalo and Pitt.I know seemingly every week there's a new fire Boyer thread, but I've gained a lot of respect for him this season. Boyer has made adjustments all season, he's dealt with a decimated secondary, the injury to Ogbah etc.
In fact, if the NFL awarded assistant coach of the year honors, I think Boyer would be in the running.
The Bradley Chubb trade gives Miami a chance against the Bills and the Chiefs. The NFL is a game of seconds and pressure on the quarterback is absolutely huge. Now, Boyer has more possibilities, ways to attack offenses.
Why do they always have to get punched in the face before they start playing well. We defer every time we win the coin toss and start down 7-0.I have been dying to see an explanation of what they did....Can't wait to watch this, thanks for posting.
I think Miami credited with stellar play by the defense in the second half is a little overblown.
Detroit only had 3 drives in the second half. Defense was largely helped out by the offense sustaining long scoring drives and Detroit self-imploding.
First drive in the second half, Detroit put themselves into a 1st and 30 following 2 false starts and a hold.
Second drive, Detroit put themselves in a hole again after getting a 1st down with a false start and a sack by Sieler (love that dude) on 3rd and long ended it.
Third drive, Detroit drove the ball 53 yards and attempted a deep pass on 4th and 1.
Dumb call. Detroit had already moved the ball 53 yards on 10 plays and down by 4, Less than 3 minutes to go, ball at Miami 35, the smart play is to go for the 1st down with their best short yardage play so they could attempt to run out the clock trying to score a TD leaving little time in the clock.
I’m glad Detroit’s offense imploded, and Miami did make adjustments to contribute in the 2nd half, but also glad Miami traded for Chubb because for Miami to compete with the likes of Buffalo they are going to need to get more pressure.
Right. I know the metrics, or stats, for the defense aren't great. And if that's all you look at, the conclusion might be that Miami misses Flores on that side of the ball.This. This would be great if the stars align on the health front in time for the back half push in the seasonRight. I know the metrics, or stats, for the defense aren't great. And if that's all you look at, the conclusion might be that Miami misses Flores on that side of the ball.
You know Boyer would love to attack and use that zero coverage a lot, but injuries have forced him to adjust. He has got a lot out of this unit IMO.
I think X Howard has played better the last couple of weeks, so maybe he's rounding into shape. Ogbah appears to not be at 100 percent. Get those two going, along with the trade for Chubb and hopefully the defense plays its best football in the second half and playoffs.
Maybe Byron Jones comes back at some point as well.
No, no no. Going into every single game unprepared and playing from behind is not good coaching. I'm sorry, vehemently disagree.I know seemingly every week there's a new fire Boyer thread, but I've gained a lot of respect for him this season.
