How The Hell Did We Lose That Game??

With A Qb that can only score 16 points.

Seriously, 16 points.
 
This team just isn't good enough to close out games when they need to on a consistent basis.

It doesn't help that the offensive coordinator wants to put the kid gloves on his star QB when the team gets a lead.
 
Death by a thousand cuts. I'm tired of all the brainless, stupid **** this team does. No excuse for letting a punt roll back to give them 15 free yards while our dudes stand around.
The game was lost at the end of the 1st half when they let Carolina drive down the field and score a FG. No excuse for playing a 30 yard prevent defense without guarding the sidelines when their team has 6 seconds left. The half would've ended before they could spot the ball had the defense kept them in bounds.
Sturgis's missed field goal was the last nail in the coffin and the rest was just spitting on the grave.
 
the gogo keys the opposing d what to do and stops the run. Cant ever run, its going to be an issue
 
Wanny, Cameron, Sparano and Philbin gutless, predictable losers with no ambition.

FFS it as if this organization cant grasp great teams are built by great coaches...you know like a certain former Miami Dolphins head coach who was the greatest of all time.
 
Look for the part of the team's play that was extraordinarily poor.

Today that was the team's number of first downs, which was 13, and which is well below the league average per game. In the presence of a slightly better-than-average QB rating, an adequate YPA, a poor QB rating and YPA for the opposition, and a zero turnover margin, that says we simply couldn't extend drives, and didn't have the running game or the playmakers in the passing game (i.e., receivers) with which to do so.

The Panthers on the other hand had 20 first downs, which is around the league average, and extended enough drives to win, despite the other statistics noted above.

What about the 2nd half YPA, which was below 6, which brought the overall YPA down to 7.4 after being around 9.3 at the end of the half.

The team was throwing short 2-4 yard passes to substitute for the running game.

Differential for the game was still well in our favor, which is associated with a win the vast majority of the time. QB rating differential was also well in our favor. Turnovers were equal.

The explanatory variables today were first downs, rushing attempts, and points per pass attempt. Carolina had us beaten in all three of those areas.

Notice it was a close game, however, which is a testament to our advantage with regard to some of the variables that matter a great deal.
 
Playing NOT to lose, and going away from what's working usually gets you beat.
