From the 2006 rookie class, take a look at the difference in $$$ between pick #1 and pick #4 !!!

BP & Co. have good negotiating power with Long X 2 and Gholdston. Good work guys  :

All 6yr contracts:

Guaranteed after options/Five-year value/Max. value w/incentives
# 1 DE Mario Williams, Hou.April 286$26.9 mil.$40.8 mil.$62.1 mil.
# 2 RB Reggie Bush, N.O.July 316$27.2 mil.$39.9 mil.$62.1 mil.
# 3 QB Vince Young, Ten.July 276$29.8 mil.$34.6 mil.$57.8 mil.
# 4 OT D'Brickashaw Ferguson, NYJJuly 266$19.3 mil.$27.5 mil.$39.0 mil.

#4 Pick with $39m max VS. #1 pick with $62.1m max.
Also, the guaranteed $$ drops from $26.9m to $19.3m

The Texans also negotiated early. So your example actually shows that no matter what happens we will pay more for the first pick. Ironically, the teams that pick behind us benefit the most from this. The contract of the players they select will be based off of the contract we sign the first pick to.

HUH???

The Texans' deal with Mario Williams at #1 had less guaranteed money than the Reggie Bush or Vince Young contracts that were done three months later.

We are targeting Atlanta and their rookie coach with these contract talks with Jake Long Parcell knows that they have 4 picks and he would move the overall # 1 to them for their #1 and one of those other picks
