I really really feel the way for Miami's Defense to get pumped up would be for the offense to have a great game. This however is not exactly a good thing.......Ray Lewis many of times has took his team/defense, on his back, and demanded them to play better than they could, and instilled the belief that their defense COULD win it by themselves. Nobody on Miami's D is doing, or has done this, there have only been mild comments, about how "we gotta play better" but nothing really beyond that. But anyway........I just get the feeling that if the O breaks out, it's gonna pump up the defense, and give them a "lets get the ball back so our offense can score again" mentality. Which by the way WOULD BE GREAT, but I just think with all the talent the D has, they should be taking over games, and feel like they're gonna win no matter what the offense does!!!

yea the fins need a motivator, and because they dont have a player with ray lewis' pump up mentality on the D, and Dave Wannstedt as coach, it must be tough for them to get excited

Miami's defense has never had a killer instinct. This week Miami players have been quoted about what it would mean to possibly be 0-2 if they lose to the Bengals; Baltimore's Ray Lewis, when asked about possibly falling into an 0-2 hole with a loss to the Steelers, said earlier in the week, "You don't put it in your head, 'Suppose we go 0-2.' Once you do that, you're done."

This defense has never had that one guy who can be a charismatic leader, the one guy whose confidence rubs off on everyone else.

Zach Thomas is too insecure, albeit that insecurity has probably helped drive him to become a star on the field when all the scouts said he was too short or whatever to be good. But too often after late-season collapses, he's talked about the Dolphins "cracking" or something to that effect. He seems to be as up and down emotionally as any Dolphins fan.

Tim Bowens has been around forever, but he seems to be too quiet.

Jason Taylor, who has the charisma and the resume on the field to back it up, seems like he could be Miami's Ray Lewis, but it just doesn't seem like he's gravitated toward that type of role.

I think what we're missing is not a rah rah player to get the D hyped. We need a Ray Lewis type player that makes everyone step up their game. Zach is a good player but Ray Lewis is by far the best LB of the last 30 years and maybe all time. The guy is the only Defensive player that can take over a game.

The biggest difference is that the Ravens believe that they will win as long as Lewis is playing, he is the catalyst of that team. We really don't have one player that can affect the team the same way Lewis does.

Our players rely on the team concept and are always afraid of speaking for the team. Imagine how weak our D gets when Zack, JT, TB, Surtain, or anyone of our defensive players are missing.

IMO, with Lewis, the team can almost play as well missing the other 10 starters on defense, while we struggle missing one.
