How to stop people from posting in the wrong forum.

I have seen several people post in the wrong forum and they seem to know what they are doing. I see them say, I know this is the wrong forum but…. I think most people do it because they want the attention from the main forum, and know it will still be there a while even after it is moved. My idea is when someone post in the wrong forum, the thread should be deleted instead of moved. If the person knows their thread will be deleted, and they will have to retype the post in the correct forum, I think it might cut down on the threads in the wrong forum.

Just a suggestion though.

then you have people creating the same thread in the same wrong forum over and over again because they think their last thread got lost in the mysterious world of the Inter-web....

Besides, how long does it take to re-create a one sentence thread anyway?

Don't you get a warning if you post in the wrong forum? I just thought if the people knew that the thread was not going to hang around in the main forum it might deter them from posting there in the first place. I see your point though.

We try to go easy on it...but people who do it over and over again will get points and eventually banned if they don't stop.....

:wink: we make notes without giving points, so if someone's meter says zero....one might check it anyway....if you see a note about posting in the wrong forum....the next time will start the points.
