So I'm watching my wishlist dwindle to nothing and with all the guys we're looking at losing to FA....we're opening A LOT more holes than we can fill. I'm trying to put a roster together in my head. The way I see it we need at least:

2 cb's
1 ilb
1olb
2 safety's
1 OG
1 T

Thats a lot of holes and not many players to fill them.
It is looking like we will really be taking a major step back next year. Parcells did the same type of thing his 2nd year in Dallas. Let a lot of players go in FA, didn't sign many FA's and took a huge step back the next season.

It is probably for the best to not overpay for players, our own or FA's, but it is going to be hard to watch next season. At this rate I'm thinking it's going to be hard to be as good as we were last year, much less improve the overall talent level on the team. If we don't resign a couple of our guys i think we're going to be in real trouble. Thoughts??

Well resigning our guys becomes that much more important. At least Bell, Crowder and Carey...

it does seem like other teams are doing whatever possible to keep their guys while we are prepared to just let them walk but it aint oiver yet.... Lets wait and see.

Wait and see. You got it.

It's not like the staff is just sitting around twiddling their thumbs. I think they have a plan for much of these senarios that happen and will act accordingly. Maybe they didnt see things the way the fans do by the tunnel vision of all the franchised players.

It be nice if we get Jason Brown who I think is high on BP list, maybe even on the top.

Be really nice if Parcells and co. have their eyes on several unpolished gems anyway. And the high priced guys were to much to begin with. Stay tuned........:hump:

Dont worry young grasshopper. We have one of the all-time best talent evaluators running the show. They know what they are doing. We will end up with good or great players for way less than everyone is shellin out right now. I mean come on, 3 years 45 million?? I keep saying this but, Al Davis is off his rocker. He n ever ceases to amaze. They dont have that kind of cash. Poor poor Raiders. How far will they fall??

The guys we could lose are useful but not indispensable. At least this FO seems to recognize the difference compared to some we've had in the past.

Even if we kept every single player we are going to have problems...Did you take a look at our schdule next season...BRUTAL TO SAY THE LEAST

PLEASE don't expect our season to unfold like it did this season if by some miricle we do improve then just enjoy the ride!

I wasn't referring to the schedule or win lose record, Im talking about overall talent level. I know our FA's arnt the best but it will be near impossible to sign guys in fa and the draft that will all be an upgrade. I guess I'm just tryin to figure out what the Fo's plan is. Parcells recent interview says the team we put on the field in 09 will be better. Im tryin to figure out how...better for cap space or better as far as talent.

Yep...the players Miami stands to lose aren't the caliber of players getting franchised by their respective teams...

There's a fine line between getting better in the long run as opposed to just trying not to be worse in the immediate future..

There are still guys out there that may or may not be upgrades to the players we are letting hit free agency. Bart Scott, Mcfadden, Butler the NYG saftey and maybe even a fill in for Carey in Stincomb. Who knows I'm just like the rest of you I would at least like to keep Carey and Bell but we finally have a front office we can trust. So I trust them to do the right things.

I'm not sure about needs you listed. We have Wake coming in to play OLB and we still have Roth so I'm not sure about OLB. THomas is coming back and he looked good before getting hurt so I'm not sure about RG either. I'd still be shocked if we lost Carey and Bell. If you're talking as backups, then ok, but as far as starters, I don't think that OLB and RG are critical needs. Goodman will probably be resigned as well, but even if we lose Hill and Goodman, we should have no problem drafting and signing FAs to fill those spots. I suspect that we'll draft an ILB early in the draft to replace Crowder. So I think I've addressed all the positions you mentioned with my predictions.

2 cb's.....Disagree (Maybe just one)
1 ilb....Agree
1olb......Agree (At least another pass-rusher)
2 safety's......Disagree (a free safety that can play CF)
1 OG........Agree
1 T......Agree

The big problem with our secondary is that we need a free Safety that can help in coverage, and make teams pay when they throw the ball where they shouldn't. Our Corners are good enough, and you bring another pass-rusher, our corners will go from good enough, to very good.

We need a center way more than G and T depth.

new center will move satele to a depth position with the ability to play guard and center that will be huge for us if we do indeed replace him in the starting lineup
