I, and many others, have made the suggestion that a reasonable benchmark for this season would be a .500 record; anything less a disappointment, anything more a pleasant surprise. While I am encouraged with the progress and the moves, when I look at the remaining schedule, I have to ask, what 5 games out of the remaining 9 are we going to win? Don't get me wrong, I think we can, but it will be tough and possibly come down to the wire.
So, let's hear the game by game predictions for the rest of the season, and please, no homer 9-0 predictions!

Here, I'll start:
Atlanta-L
NE-L
Cleveland-W
Oakland-L
Buffalo-W(payback win at home)
San Diego-L
NYJ-W(another payback)
Tennessee-W
NE-W (finish the year strong)

I see four games that the Fins should win if they play well: Browns, Raiders, Bills, Jets.

I see four that they could lose (but might not) despite playing well: Falcons, Chargers, and two vs. the Patriots.

They need to win three from the first group, if not all of them, and at least one from the second, if not split. That would put them in the 8-8 range - maybe even 9-7 in a year when 9-7 might just possibly win the division.

I'd like to see them take one of the next two, and two of the following three. That's 6-6 heading to San Diego, with the season still interesting for us. It would leave two winnable home games (Jets, Titans) and the chance to pull an upset in one of the other two for a winning record.

Just go ahead and call me a 'homer'...

Atlanta W
New England W
@Clevland W
@Oakland L
Buffalo W
@San Diego L
NY Jets W
Tennessee W
@New England W

I am suggesting we start a run this week and finish the regular season a surprising 10-6, winning the AFCE.

Don't need to play well (do you mean better than usual?)to beat the Browns, Titans or Raiders. It will take a solid effort, much like the Saints game.

BTW EVERY team needs to "play well" to win in this league, including those who have to play us. The Dolphins aren't an automatic win for anybody, because they have a solid defense, 2 very good running backs and pretty good receivers.

There you go. 9-7. And that just might win the division.

That looks realistic. Snag or drop one and it's in my pre-season prediction of 6-10 to 9-7 with 7-9 / 8-8 being most likely.

By "play well" I meant solid, few mistakes/penalties/turnovers - not necessarily our best possible game.

I disagree that every team needs to play well to win on a given day. Jets played like crap and won because we were worse. Bills should have lost too but we stunk it up with all the penalties.

I'm cautiously optimistic about the NE game in two weeks. The Bills should have won last Sunday, but at least showed that a subpar team can run on the Pats and get to Brady as well. We might be able to do the same.

Plus they will be following a Monday night game with a road trip.

I only hope our players aren't too awed by Bruschi, that man among men and inspiration of the year, to focus on the game.

Anyway, first things first: Atlanta on Sunday.
