trade down with say pitt or carolina to get their 2nd.....
and if booker is gone

1 staley
2a stanton/WR
2b WR/kolb,beck,edwards
2c WR
3 satele

we would have our QB to groom, 2WR to replace what was lost and a solid line for years with hadnot moved to LG.....with a new look like this

Staley-Hadnot-Satele-Shelton-Carey

What we have to do is trade players and mid round-late picks strategically in order to move up. Calvin Johnson would be amazing and would instantly help Chambers be consistent. Add a Trent Green deal in and our offense is nasty.

Hear me out, this is what I would try to do. Trade Daunte, even Ricky, our 9th overall pick and maybe a 4th or 5th to Oakland. I doubt they would even do that, but you never know. We get rid of two major headaches, and grab the best player in the draft. We can even get that pick back trading Booker somewhere.

2nd Round we go Trent Edwards. Don't you love the PR already? He will be a great apprentice to Green and he is a solid QB. Stanton would be a decent alternative.

We may not have a 3rd if the Calvin situation plays out, but I would overpay for him in a situation like this. If by chance we do retain it, Michael Bush from Louisville.

The later rounds can be where we go OL, DE, and CB.

This is a lofty scenario and the chances are slim to none. But imagine Trent Green, Calvin Johson, and a future franchise type QB added in one weekend? I am sick of mediocre at best but mostly disappointing drafts the past few seasons. Cam...you're on the clock.

i like the idea of moving up to grab Johnson, but in a real world, its not happening because we would have to give up wayyyyy tooo much. Its nice to dream tho.

Plus getting "rid of" ricky /culpepper is easier said than done. And I think Trent green is a disaster waiting to happen. He's worth much less than Harrington in my honest opinion. I'd prefer to give cleo a shot than to spend anything on getting Green. Remeber green had good numbers when he was younger and had one of if not the best offensive line in the league for the better part of a decade...and older, slower green may not fair so well behind our line.

Getting Green reminds me of getting Steve Deberg .. remember when Deberg had that bloody chin when we played Lawrence Taylor and the Giants ?

If Calvin slides to #4 and Quinn is off the board, I would love to see us move up to get him. However, Tampa will NEVER trade the pick away for anything reasonable because they apparently want Calvin in the worst way. CJ is my favorite player in the draft and I would take him over Quinn or Russell any day! However, I don't see it happening.
