How would you fix the o line in the offseason

we need depth and versatility more than anything. I will say maybe Jim Turner is a good coach based on the fact two cancers are out the team
 
I'd draft Henderson out of Miami. Tremendous upside who has not lived up to the hype coming out of high school. I think he will be good in the NFL and could possibly be drafted in the 2nd or 3rd rd
 
We're already off to a great start by dropping Martin and Incognito. Draft a couple linemen (even okay with OT this year in the 1st round, since it will be a later pick), build some depth with late round picks and FA, and get some running backs that can block more consistently.
 
In the 1st, I'm looking at Greg Robinson, Antonio Richardson, and Taylor Lewan. The depth of OT in the 1st RD is very good. Once caveat: we don't know if Robinson is leaving Auburn, and even if he does, he'll likely go before we draft. But one of those three should be there. In the 2nd, I'm looking at OG. I'd be happy with Gabe Jackson, but I haven't payed careful attention to OG prospects. I'll have a better idea in a few weeks. I'd also bring back McKinnie. Cheap, reliable. And if we draft Richardson, he reminds me of a young McKinnie, so I think he'd be a good guy to learn from.

Aside from OT and OG, I'm looking at LB and RB, and I'm keeping an eye out for WR's who fall to the 2nd. Jarvis Landry would be a great addition, and I think there's a good chance he'd be there. Tannehill would love him, and he blocks about as well as you can ask a WR to block.

Your description makes him sound like an UDFA signing. Why spend a draft pick on someone that hasn't lived up to his potential in college? Why should he be better in the NFL?

I agree with your thoughts but as bad as our OL is - in our current state I am more worried about LB. I would prefer to solve LB first, either in FA (I can't think of a ready answer there) so I'd draft a LB and then go after OL help. I think we can buy reliable help at OL. I'm afraid we can't at LB.

Maybe we can get by one more year with what we have at WR if Gibson comes back and Matthews continues to develop.

4 years and the light still hasn't come on for Henderson...there's more bust potential there than solid player. Plus I don't think he has the movement skills we need in the ZBS. Now Brandon Linder I would take in a heartbeat and I think he can play RT in the NFL and he has played some at Miami and done it effectively.

Few guys I'd like to see us target in the Draft (realistically should be around when we pick), Cameron Erving OT FSU, James Hurst OT UNC, Zack Martin OG Notre Dame, Xavier Sua-Filo OG UCLA and Anthony Steen OG Alabama.

In Free agency I'd like to try and re-sign Bryant McKinnie (if the price is right), bring back Brenner (not sure if he was signed to a multi-year deal but he would be a RFA regardless), Zane Beadles OG from Denver, Wade Smith OG Houston, Rodger Saffold OG/OT St. Louis, Ryan Harris OT Houston.

Coming back would be OG Sam Brenner, OC Mike Pouncey (if he's not in jail), OG David Arkin, OG/OT/OC Nate Garner, OG/OT Dallas Thomas (because he was a 3rd round pick), OT Will Yeatman. Obviously this makes OT a big priority in free agency and the draft. Brandon Albert is also a possibility in free agency if he's not tagged again and if the price is right.

At LB, I'd like to draft a MLB and move Ellerbe over to WOLB. If I had to put down money today, I'd say that Mosley is the only MLB (I know many think he'd fit best at OLB) prospect who will go in the 1st. Bullough and Borland are natural MLB's - true QB's of the D. If either tests especially well, that player would likely jump to the first, but barring that, I think there's a good chance at least one of them will be there when we draft in the 2nd, and one might even fall to the 3rd.

I agree that our WR unit is good enough - if we develop a consistent running game and continue to improve our pass pro. WR in the 2nd is more of a value play - in theory - and it's predicated on the idea that there will be a surplus of WR's with 1st RD talent. Also, unlike last season, a lot of these WR's are big, physical guys, and that's something we could use. Matthews has developed into our most physical WR, and he's a keeper, but I'm looking at Slimm's tiers of WR's, and I count 12 guys I can make a case for going in the 1st RD. I haven't seen any of A. Hill from Arizona, but I'd make a case for Beckham, and Matthews from the Seniors is a 1st RD caliber player, and aside from that, I'd say everyone in Slimm's top two tiers of underclassmen have at least borderline 1st RD talent.

If I'm sitting there in the 2nd, and I like the MLB as much as the WR on the board, I go MLB. But if a guy like Moncrief or Landry is still on the board, I don't think we're so good at WR that we can pass on a potential All Pro WR. I mentioned him earlier, but Landry reminds me of a blend of two Steelers WR's - Hines Ward and Antonio Brown. More than anything, Landry impresses me as a guy that does the little things that help a team win - runs great routes, blocks, makes the tough catches in traffic, but he still has HR ability.

Come May, I think it'll be pretty clear where the value lies for our team in each RD, and knowing Ireland, there are sure to be head-scratchers.
 
Honestly, I feel for Lions fans. They are so loyal and get this crap year after year.

They have amassed the best team they've had in decades, and it still makes the same bumbling mistakes, and like us, don't take advantage of their opportunities.
 
Sign several lineman in FA....Austin Howard of the Jets, Jon Asamoah, Branden Albert, Eugene Monroe, Alex Mack, Matt Slauson....any two of these would be fine...

Draft a couple or 3 lineman...1 early, 1 middle and 1 late round

Sign McKinnie and Jerry (on the cheap)

Allow Brenner and Garner to compete

Dump Incognito and Martin
