this offseason what would you do to fix this team? here is what i would do:

cuts:
1.booker- unless he takes a pay cut we should use the $ to get a better wr
2.zgonina- good player but getting old, vickerson and wright can step in.
3.seau- retired
4.moore- you no why
5.t.jones- we can upgrade with the money we have
6.frerotte- see todays game
7.howard- n/a

paycuts:
1.madison- getting old and not worth the money, if he dont cut his butt
2.james- not playing bad but he is not worth that contract

extentions:
1.ricky- bottom line he is worth more than the minimum
2.welker-
3.holliday

free agent pickups:
1.from our team now: sammy morris, traylor, mitchel, schulters, bell
2.lecharles bentley
3.nate clements or charles woodson, the one that does not get franchised
4.adam archuleta
5.reggie wayne
6.david carr/brees- the one thats available

draft:
round 1- a.j hawk,lb
round 2- jay cutler,qb
round 3-mike hass,wr
round 4-jason allen, cb/s
round 5-project lineman

so our team would look like this:

qb-carr/cutler
rb-ronnie/ricky
fb-morris/barnes
wr-chambers/wayne/welker/hass
te-mcmike/diamond
ol-dmac/james/bentley/hadnot/carey

dl-carter/traylor/holliday/taylor
lb's-hawk/thomas/crowder/spragan
cb's-woodson/poole/madison/daniels
s-schulters/archuletta/bell/allen

looks like a playoff team to me

I like most of your moves but there is no immediate need to extend Welker since he's signed through 2006. Ricky does deserve to have earned a contract extension and a pay bump but I would not take away the threat yet of recouping the 8.5MM if he bolts.

As for FA, it's still too early to tell on the QB front but Carr needs to show that he can get rid of the ball on time. It scares me that he holds on to the ball way too long.

Good post

with a flame thrower

I think you start off with bringing in a guy who can call better plays than SL....than draft a QB, even if we can't get Leinart, there has to be someone better for us than Gus. We just don't seem to have "tough" players who force fumbles, INT's, etc......we are too soft.

Who's Cutler??? Sounds like something I'd find in the appliance section at Target.

Find new offensive coordinator.

Win more games.

Period.

a great qb on a horrible team vanderbilt, he has a cannon for an arm and has the size at 6'5 225 and has decent speed!

i agree with booker, seau frerotte and howard. ricky who knows what were going to do with him but if we keep him he needs a raise, holliday i agree, welker is not going to get any kind of raise or extension everyone needs to get off his jock he's not that good . as for everything else lets just enjoy this season before we get int offseaon.

Charles Woodson??? really? the guy is made of cristal. He breaks down every year, and has never lived up to his promise. I know you want a good CB, I want and i think we need one, but this guy is going to ask for a huge contract for someone who has underperformed for years.

your right he is injury prone but when he is healthy he is good, maybe we could get clements or wenfield

I would take a look at Brees if he became available but David Carr is awful.
