I would prefer to re-sign in-house if possible. Players know the system and familiarity breeds success in my opinion. Constant turnover is never good.

Re-sign
Tyson Clabo OT - first half of year rated as one of the worst RT in NFL, but 2nd half rated as one of the best
Randy Starks DT
Noland Carroll CB - signed a two year $5m contract. Better than Finnegan, yet we pay him $11m over 2 years. Carroll only allowed a 48% completion perc.
Brent Grimes CB
Chris Clemons FS - Reliable, solid and massively underrated, why replace him with an injury prone alternative?

Release
Matt Moore QB
Dimitri Patterson CB ( I would try to restructure on a small 1 yr contract)

Sign
John Kuhn FB - would immediately help improve run game and pass protection in backfield, allowing Clay to stay at TE
Jared Veldheer OT - Younger, cheaper and IMO far less of a risk that Branden Albert
Evan Dietrich-Smith C/OG - Very good and would give the option of moving Pouncey to OT

We lost with the guys in bold and they haven't done anything special to make me think they can take us over the hump. Time to move on.

We went 8-8 with no O'line and IMO a piss poor OC.

Fix the O'line through draft & FA, together with a run blocking FB, with Lazor calling plays, I believe RT is ready to take us to offseason.

Agree O-line was probably worse n the NFL and Sherman's play calling drove me crazy. However, I just didn't see anything special out of those 3 players and feel it was time for new blood. Good QB's always picked on Carroll and as a result he got burnt.

We needed some veteran leaders.

Everyone that signed for less I would have signed. And whoever plays the best I would have signed as well. Other than that, I think I would draft the best players.

Well he's doing much better than we all would since this is his livelihood and we are just fans....

This post makes no sense, the players your keeping are the players we ALL hated and wanted gone. Clabo may have ended the season on a high note, but he was the MAIN reason for the majority of our sacks. We do NOT have the same system offensively as we have a new OC. Maybe the ZBS stays the same, but I am sure there will be a lot of changes to it and all brand new plays. Clemmons was solid, but not a playmaker that Delmas can be when healthy. I agree with Carrol over Finnegan, but I think Finnegan has more potential if he bounces back from a horible 2013. No one knows if Veldheer was even interested in coming to Miami, there were plenty of rumors he had chosen Arizona long before FA kicked off, as did Albert. What makes anyone here think we had a shot at anyone else besides Albert? People are too quick to suggest we could have signed Collins or Veldheer but those guys may have not wanted to come play here. Albert was on board and can be the best of the bunch if healthy. Any of those other guys can get injured same as Albert, and granted age is a big factor, but if you have a proven pro bowler you cant say its a bad pick up. I do agree with adding John Kuhn and Dietrich-Smith for OG.

I'm fine with everything except for us getting Finnegan and the Pats getting Revis. I would have preferred Revis over Finnegan. I do expect a few more O-line guys to be brought in before and after the draft.

Revis wanted to go to a winner he said today. That isn't Miami.

Those two would have been sweet.

Ok with the Albert, smith, finnegan Delmas and Mitchell signings.

Not fussed in losing Clemons, Carroll. Patterson I think will be resigned at a lower salary. Another o lineman will come when cuts start. Wouldn't mind wilfork either.

Overall, it's not too bad. Mind you I said the same after last years FA.

I liked Clemons and why not keep him for insurance behind Delmas. Carroll is not the best but better than what the Eagles gave him. I don't like the amount given to Finny. Jerry might be good depth for cheap but was implicated so that's that. QB is important but at 4.5 mil I'd rather pay another veteran around 2mil just in case Devlin can't hack 2nd fiddle( fitzpatrick,Campbell)

My attempt:

1. CB: Re-signed Brent Grimes just like we did
2. LT: Monroe, or if he did not accept, Veldheer. I would have bettered their 5 year 37.5M deal, but I'm confident we could have had one of them for considerably less than Albert.
3. DT: Re-sign Soliai, this is where the saved money would have gone.
4. DT: Re-sign Starks just like we did.
5. Pass on Courtland Finnegan and Shelley Smith
6. S: Re-sign Clemons (safer injury-wise, better recovery speed for broken plays)
7. OG: Geoff Schwartz or Zane Beadles, would have required more than we offered Beadles, obviously, but either is significantly better than Shelley Smith
8. CB: Alterraun Verner or Tarrell Brown
9. RT: Eric Winston (knows Benton's system and played well in the 2nd half of the season)
10. LB: Wesley Woodyard - excellent cover LB which we lack

Assuming we get one OG in the draft that is starting caliber (such as Zack Martin), then that should work well. Monroe/Veldheer are good at pass pro and run blocking, younger, and less injury prone. With Soliai back we would have a stout run defense again. Woodyard fills the only major hole our defense had last year, cover LB. We could field a veteran OL that would give us time to ease the rookie OL guys in slowly.

That would make us solid everywhere, relatively younger, and be within our cap numbers.
