I have written previous posts stating that my draft philosophy would be to identify the 4 strengths of draft and double up if possible, then tailor Free Agency accordingly -

In my mind the 4 strengths of the 2015 draft WR - OL - DT- CB

RE-SIGN
Matt Moore QB
Derrick Shelby DE
Michale Thomas S
Jordan Kovacs S

Free Agency
Contracts are avg per year
James Casey TE - $1.25m - replaces in part what Clay would have done and familiar with Lazor
Orlando Franklin OG - $7m - Fill LG spot and just as important cover RT (James to LT) when Albert gets injured
Brandon Spikes ILB - $2m -Run D was biggest weakness last year and IMO, ILB spot was main reason. Spikes is one of the best 2 down run stopping ILB's. Forget this experiment with Misi, put him back where he is best OLB, Jenkins other side and improve one of our weakest spots.

I would add that safety was an issue, but besides D McCourty, there wasnt anyone I was willig to pay for. Delmas was an option, but I would rather allow Will Davis, Michael Thomas & Kovacs to compete for spot.

2015 Draft
Draft is also based around the trade for Kenny Stills. To get an already productive 23 yr old WR, with rookie contract for 3rd pick, in my mind is a no brainer.

1-Devante Parker WR
2-Jake Fisher OT/OG
4-Grady Jarrett DT
5-Charles Gaines CB
5-Michael Bennett DT
5-Ifo Ekpre-Olomu CB
5-Tyrus Thompson OT

Would be ideal to view other offseason plans

Whatever Hickey and Tannenbaum did is about as good as I could have hoped for...not a perfect off-season, but I doubt you could get any better realistically..

They did pretty dang good I'm not going to nitpick. Yes they could have paid more attention to Mike LB and guard but they did a bang up job at WR, TE and on the DL

I like what Hickey has done in draft both years.

I am worried again about O'line and ILB spots.

If Albert doesn't get fit we are looking at a line of James-Douglas-Pouncey-Turner-Thomas ............

You are right about the line up but Turner is the back up RT not Thomas. At the end of last season Turner played RT and played it pretty good. Turner is a more natural Tackle. Too bad he has to wait a few years to go to Tackle

I have to agree with you there, while not perfect I haven't had one I actually liked so many moves of in a very long time.

It's not often that Miami's front office seems to be on the same page with my thought processes. This year was an exception. I feel the front office did a spectacular job, although there are still areas of question on the team.

Like you, I wanted Orlando Franklin when free agency began. Miami might have as well, but I think the offseason focus changed once N. Suh became a free agent and the Dolphins were bold in bringing in his elite talents. I love the move, but also understand that move made it necessary to go with young players in other spots (offensive line as an example). I absolutely love the changes at wide receiver. This may be a top third in the league unit, perhaps even higher once the young players figure things out.

In the draft, my first choice would have been Todd Gurley. Once he was off the board, my next guy was DaVante Parker. I never expected him to get to Miami and am excited about the pick. I wanted Eric Kendricks in R2 and might have traded up to get him. Phillips was a gamble on greatness and could end up being really something next to Suh. I like most of the draft, but might have gambled on Collins from LSU with one of the 5th rounders. Love the Lippett pick. I had him penciled in as a Patriot.

The one area of concern remains the offensive line. I'm not sure I agree with the philosophy of finesse players there, but the team did run the ball well last year. My question is whether the team can run when they aren't scheming to run the ball, when everyone in the house knows Miami needs to get a yard or two to win the game.

I know a lot of fans wanted Denzel Perryman. I love him in run support, but right now he's going to be a liability in the passing game and teams passed 62 percent of the time last year. I had three middle linebackers who I felt were three down guys. Kendricks, Anthony and McKinney (because he can rush the passer). I knew filling that linebacker need was going to be tough and at least the Dolphins didn't reach. I'm hopeful that one of the free agents can help add some depth.

I like the depth in the secondary. We may not have a star opposite of Grimes, but we have a lot of talented players now if injuries happen there.

Dont take this as a dig at what we have done this offseason.

If we had signed L.Collins it would have made everything rosey.......but we didnt and we are one 'likely' injury away from having the worst O'line in football. Benton is a class act, but a line made up of Dallas Thomas, untested Turner and Douglas is a shambles.
