At the moment we are heading into draft 'needing' a RT. There are other options for example, McKinnie & Clabo. We have to consider though another aspect. We have an injury prone LT, with nobody able enough to step in if he goes down. In my mind we have to get a RT that can cover the LT spot in a pinch, leaving Clabo out of the equation.

Many feel Zach Martin is the option, but more and more he is rising up mock drafts, with Mayock believing he will go between 9-13. The 5th option on his board and last he believes carries a 1st round grade is Cyrus Kouandijio. Would you be comfortable drafting him at #19?

In the 2nd you possibly have Morgan Moses, Joel Bitonio, Jawaun James & Jack Mewhort. Both Bitonio & Mewhort are projected as OG's and possibly RT's. These together with James, IMO, would not be able to man the LT spot if needed. Moses maybe.

Looking at it, I see Mckinnie being resigned more and more, but then I question whether or not he is a fit for John Benton's system. If I question McKinne I have to do same for CK and Morgan Moses.

With this in my mind how would you man the RT spot, with a backup LT in mind?

I would man it very poorly. At 5"10, 190 pounds, I don't really have the size necessary for the position. I also lack any upper body strength whatsoever so I would get easily overrun by some of the more talented defensive ends, and most of the less talented ones as well. Also, at 29 I don't really have a lot of upside left. I think the Dolphins would be better served looking elsewhere, though if the Dolphins need someone to catch a wide open crossing route versus the Jets, I may have a bit more success.

I got a little more size at 6"1 200. However my reach is long and i have a solid punch.. Footwork is sloppy.. Id be between better than jon martin worse than richmond webb.

i would let Fox and a 3rd rd rookie battle it out. Also bring in Clabo for min

Id trade and gwt jake matthews if he fell or otherwise use a pick in the top 2 rounds.

Fox at LT if Albert goes down?

CK stated that Vikings may be willing to trade 8th to us if JM falls. That would be ideal if just for a 2nd

We just spent close to 50 million dollars on a left tackle. If we are already planning out the replacement policy(even in case of injury) then our free agency was a complete and utter disaster and everyone involved should be immediately fired. There were other tackles available without the problems.

Anyways, the answer the underlying question(while ignoring the "he has to play LT also"), id sign Eric Winston. Hes only 30, has experience in a zone blocking scheme, and can be picked up for a affordable price. He can band-aid the position while we fill the roster up with talent at more critical positions. I'd also bring back Bryant McKinnie for depth. That man wants another paycheck so badly hes been publicly campaigning for it.

Under no circumstances would i draft an offensive lineman in the first round.

LOL! Can you say PANCAKE? ;-)

Heck, I would get flattened by ALL of the DE's and probably anybody else on defense, too. :-)

With someone who could block....

I would not panic like many on here seem to be. I would not trade up in the first round for any of the tackles. I would see who is there at 19. If any of the the top four are there (Robinson, Matthews, Martin, Lewan) take one of them. I would not reach for any of the other tackles in the draft at 19. If the Dolphins want to address the position in the first round they should try and move down and add extra picks and take whoever they believe is better between Kouandjio, James, or Moses. Personally, I like Moses the least out of those three. If none of the top four tackles are there at 19 and the Dolphins are unable to trade back, I would take the best player available at another position (not a QB or D lineman) and wait until the second round to address the right tackle position. Maybe even trade up in the second round if need be.

I'd let the draft come to us. Don't ever reach for a RT. Fox has potential and we can draft a very good guard. Ireland left us in a mess that can't be fix in 1 draft.

I would either trade up for Jake Matthews or pick Joel Bitonio. Ideally I would trade back and pick up another 3rd, but IMO he fits perfectly with what Benton wants. I would also resign McKinnie as swing tackle.

McKennie is wanted by some for his name, not his play. He was worse than Martin, and much worse that Clabo in the last 9 games. Winston is the same. As of now, Clabo is the best option but, I would hope for a better option after the draft.

A whole lot can be fixed with proper coaching and QB play and a key piece or two.

I'll do it with a whiskey one hand and a cigarette in the other... No?:lol2:

Cosign. We already have quality at LT and at RT I would go the quantity over quality route. We already have Jason Fox on the roster, bring in one or two of the cripples, in the draft let it come to you, if there is value in the second round take it if not find a tackle later, and scour the waver wire for roster trimmings. Give Philbin like 6 decent bodies to choose from and let him decide who plays where.
