i have a pretty boring story as i was born, raised, and currently live in miami, but i see a lot of fans here from different parts of the country/world. how (or more appropriately, why :D) did you start rooting for the phins?

mods: i searched for similar threads and didn't see this posted anywhere, so feel free to merge with any existing threads. ;)

i remeber being 3 or 4 and just watching my dad who is a huge dolphins fan watch the games. i asked him to take me to a game with him when i was 5... ever since i bleen aqua and orange

i actually grew up in new england my whole family was patriot fans, and i couldnt stand the patriots so when i was 6 or seven i remember hearing my dad say even though i hate the dolphins i really like dan marino

so i watched this marino character and saw he made throwing the football an art and since i was 6 i bleed aqua and orange :woot:

funny, one of the mods on my board is a diehard pats/bosox fan and her sister cheers for the dolphins. i never asked her why, but i'm guessing it's because she hated the pats like you did. :)

probably it is cool though my hate for the patriots drove me to the dolphins and that was 15 years ago, i still have my dan marino jersey and my dolphins starter jacket i had in the 5th grade that i wore in new england
:hi5:

I was a Steeler fan as a young boy due to the fact that I'm from western Pennsylvania. Then Dan Marino was drafted out of Pitt when I was 8 years old. I watched him faithfully the next year take the Phins to the SB and have benn hooked ever since.

First football game I sat down and watched (fully paid attention to) was the 1994 divisional playoff game vs. the Chargers. Although we lost, that turned me onto football and the Dolphins became my favorite team. As I got a little older and starting understanding the game more, I fell in love with the Dolphins (around '99.)

Then, in 2000 after the playoff game where Lamar Smith ran the game winning TD vs. the Colts, I became obsessed with the Dolphins.

Finally, in 2005, the Miami Dolphins became my life.:dolphins:

i would do anything to see the dolphins win a superbowl

Sometimes the thought crosses my mind. I actually, the other day, envisioned the setting if/when we won a Super Bowl. I couldn't help but smile at that image. :D I imagine it would be similar to me cherring for that Plaxico touchdown.....times 4 or 5....hundred.

My dad and uncle took me to my first game in '93 when I was 9 and i've been hooked ever since. It was a preseason game against the Giants. Those were the days! The Dolphins were actually good and Joe Robbie stadium was still Joe Robbie stadium.

When I was about 12, I remember reading a book about them in the library and being impressed with three basic things:
  1. that Shula seemed to be a person of character;
  2. the perfect season (and the many characters like Kiick, Csonka, and Griese that were involved); and
  3. they came into the world the same year that I did, so I took that as a sign that they must be something special.:D

I idolized my babysitter's son when I was around 5 and he was a huge Dolphins fan. That's basically the story of how I became a Dolphins fan... simply me trying to copy someone... story of my life. :foundout:

I picture myself screaming at the top of my lungs, crying tears of joy, hugging my dad and uncle, and running all over my neighborhood with my arms in the air.
