That was quick. I wonder if this is more of a permanent demotion or if this is to light a fire under his ***. Whatever it is he won't be costing us the game come Sunday.
What I love about this kind of thing with Saban is he closes the door but opens the window. These guys have got to know that when they get demoted like this they still have the opportunity to earn that job back if they get back to fundamentals and play like we KNOW they can play.
I've seen Howard play well. He is perfectly capable of playing very very well in THIS system. He had a bad game against the Bears in the HoF game, big deal. Then he came out and played lights out for a good stretch of preseason and regular season games including the Broncos game. He lost that against the Jets and continued against the Panthers but I think he can get it back.
Just like we were ALL down on Stockar McDougle when he had so many penalties and was a goat and everything but Saban kept that window open for him to earn some time back. That is a very effective way of coaching.
Another note, Damion McIntosh, for the first time, has actually been playing over at RT in this rotation they have going trying to figure out who their starting tandem is. Very interesting to me.
Next year we get back Poole, and Daniels looks like he is going to be the real deal. If this new guy can get us through the season or even better turn into a quality CB then we just need to pick up a good free agent or draft someone to groom. Either way our secondary will be much improved by next year.
