We'll have a decent amount of cap room, depending on who let go and all that. Question is....would you go out and get a #1 WR in FA and then draft a #2 WR in the 2nd round...or would you rather get a #2 WR in FA (and avoid paying $$$) and then use our 1st round pick on a WR?

I also forgot that the WR is gonna be incredibly deep next draft, so that also plays a part. Could get a extremely good one in the 2nd round.

draft a WR in the first round, get #2 in FA

It obviously depends on what's available in FA and in the draft when we pick. I wouldn't overpay for some average WR and try to make him into a #1 just because he's making a ton of money and I certaintly wouldn't reach for a player in the draft with better talent sitting there.

Draft. In 2nd or 3rd rounds are fine to me. Even 1st round. Heck, I am hoping we take TWO wide receivers next draft, in the first 4 rounds.

I want our offense to be elite. Look at the Packers and all the other teams that win double digits wins every year. They are stacked on offense, but their defenses kind of suck. Except the Giants, who make up for their defense with 2 amazing pass rushers who don't let Tom Brady throw the ball.

Remember our Marino years? Stacked on offense, crap defense.

At least we were a winning team that only needed to fix the defense a bit. I am tired of these Dolphin offenses of the past X amount of years that only put up 15-19 pts per game.

If Jeff Ireland is still our GM, Steve Ross and Joe Philbin need to sit him the **** down and explain to him that sometimes you have to draft a wide receiver with a first day pick.

If we are in a position where an elite WR is truly worth an extra 2 wins more than an average WR, then spend the money on the best FA available. You couldn't really do that this year because there's just too many other variables to determine how much one player can change your fortunes. Also, if you take a WR high in the draft, you still have to wait a year or 2 for that guy to be an elite player. Guys like Randy Moss, the LeBron James of the NFL, don't come along often and you can't expect it. Even Julio Jones wasn't that great of a difference maker for Atlanta, as their humbling defeat in the playoffs proved. This year he will probably be Larry Fitzgerald Jr (more of the former than latter). Also, having that one elite WR can sometimes be a crutch for a young QB. Having to go through the progressions to know where to throw it will just make Tannehill that much better, so next year when Miami gets that elite WR, Tanne will be just that much better at knowing how and when to go to that true #1 guy.

Sorry, my writing kinda sucked in that post.

Lets see how this WR group develops. Green Bay had a top offense without an Andre Johnson or Larry Fitzgerald type of WR. We probably need to invest a draft pick or two but that all depends on this years group.

Yup.

If we're gonna lose, I want to lose with a final score of 31-34 or something. We need more weapons on offense.

I didn't think Cunningham looked all that bad he made some tuff catches in traffic. But i do agree we need to upgrade the wideout postion as a whole. Not sure about Gates,Moore, and Wallace.... Moore and Wallace have had a couple of moments but they have been too far between and haven't been consistant. Gates is a speed demon one year out... still trying to learn how to run routes. How many years do we have to keep developing these guys?

simple, we will have close to $50 million in cap space and mando has already suggested were gonna target either dwayne bowe or mike wallace, both will be FA's.

They might not have one of those tippy top guys, but they invested very high picks(2nds) in Jennings, Nelson, James Jones, and Randall Cobb. Someone needs to tell Ireland that successful very low round pick or UFA WR's are the exception and not the rule.

Dwayne Bowe scares me, I really hope we don't target him. The guy has stone hands and has been called a locker room cancer by more than a few Chiefs fans I've spoken to.

Guys maybe, just maybe, Ireland is a horrible G.M. Took him five years to realize that he needed to a quarterback. And even then, he was "frustrated" to lose Garrard. That guy is all about self-preservation and nothing more.

Five years of drafting and not ONE impact playmaker. Out of around what 50 picks??

That's flat out horrendous. AND we still have problems in the secondary and pass-rush. So my answer, we need to really switch focus to our ultimate problem on this team. It's goes beyond our flat out bad talent on the outside...
