Andy Cohen from Dolphins Digest writes at MiamiDolphins.com that "given the state of this franchise, given the fact that there’s a new coach, a new quarterback, and an entirely new offense, this becomes as crucial a summertime as the Dolphins have had in recent memory."

It's an interesting article where he analyzes each position of the Miami O.

I agree with this quote

Bottom line: This is the best situation the Dolphins have had at quarterback, top to bottom, in a long time.

I wish this didn't sound so similar to what people were saying last year.

yeah, but I was never comfortable with Culpepper, and I know you were never comfortable with Harrington. I feel better coming into the season with Green then either one of those two. Lemon I like, I think he is a good spark player off the bench, and Beck has potential.

But until the pads go on in Sept games, we will not know for sure what we are getting.

Well you're right. And I have to say I was more comfortable with Culpepper long term than I was short term. Short term, I knew there was a good chance he'd suck in 2006 as he tried adjusting to a knee that wouldn't work the same way. What I didn't count on was that the Mularkey abberation of an offense would be so incredibly dissimilar to what Linehan ran a year ago. When Saban said Mularkey was going to run Linehan's offense like Scott did, I unfortunately and quite naively, took him at his word.

I'm happy with the QB situation for now, but I still would of liked to see Culpepper and Green battle it out.

And just a little side note that I was thinking about this morning, Harrington will have much worse recievers in Atlanta than he had here. They have FAR more drops not only individually but collectively as well than we do. He is definately being set up for failure in those terms

Barring a major injury or an unexpected surprise at one of the starting Oline position battles, what you see in camp and pre season is what you'll see come week 1. I think this is what makes this year different from last year. I think Daunte could have been a good addition had he been healthy. I do think Green is a more accurate and smarter QB, so this should also help with continuity.

However Green is so slow we can't afford 21 sacks in the first 4 games so the Line continuity needs to remain constant from day one. I think Saban had to much input in the offense and the secondary and that's why those two units were less effective. I see Cam letting everyone (coaches) do their job and I believe this will have a positive effect. We may not be a playoff team this year, but we will look more like a complete team IMO.

On the bright side though, by all means I think Bobby Petrino knows what he's about on offense...as opposed to Mike Mularkey. That bodes well for the Falcons fans, whom I feel a bit sorry for at this point.

True, I feel the same way, but he is much more of a power running style coach which will help out Joey tremendously

Supposedly, Mularkey was too...yet there's Joey Harrington throwing like 16,000 pass attempts against the Packers....and throwing passes in the second half against the Jets when Ronnie had been cutting them up.

Not much of a power running game going on when your best backs are Warrick Dunn and Jerious Norwood. But, they have such a tradition in Atlanta of running the ball a lot, I think since Petrino is a good coach he'll do what is best and keep with that. The more you take the ball out of JH's hands the better.

Would you call Vick an effective passer or a good game manager? I wouldn't, I don't think you can know what the Falcons will be until the new staff and personnel get their chance. Joey is going to his third team and his third team has the same issues as his first two teams, a weak Oline and questionable coaching. Maybe Patrino has what it takes to coach in the NFL, but he's yet to prove it. So once again Joey isn't stepping into an ideal situation. Remember he was brought to Atalnta to be a backup, not a starter. So don't expect Joey to live up to something, while ignoring everything else like quite a few fin fans did with him in Miami.

Mularky couldnt call a game or even a play if his life depended on it. We all saw that last year. For Atlanta's sake I hope they can call plays better than Mularky. Im sure they can. As far as their power running, too bad they dont have Ducket anymore. He would be perfect for them now
