GREAT POST.
Obviously there are a lot of players we can use off those lists. IMHO our biggest issue is pass protection and stopping the run.
Secondary issues are ILB, safety, CB and WR.

OG Mike Iupati
DT Nick Fairley
OG Orlando Franklin

These 3 players would help significantly. Having vets Iupati and Franklin would solidify the oline.
Fairley would add some impact on the dline.

This would allow the draft to address ILB, OLB, CB, Safety and WR

Draft Picks (very early, but have to start somewhere..)
1. Benardrick McKinney ILB
2. Marcus Peters CB
3. Tony Lippet WR

We will resign the majority of our own guys.
I expect 12 new players (6 starters) between draft picks and FA's.
Just my .02

We would definitely be a more physical football team with those signings.

More physical is definitely needed on the oline.
Not sure what happened to the run defense from the Denver game. Injuries, apathy, poor scheme, lack of LB play causing the scheme to get out of whack, fat and happy contracts? No answer.
Anyway, might as well dump Moore, Ellerbee, Garner, Hartline and other dead weight millions and pick up some guys that can help us. Maybe we can restructure Wallace as well.

I like this. And very doable.

You focus on OL and DL in the FA.

Then you focus your draft on the rest. Makes sense. Workable, imo.

The Overthecap figures aren't entirely reliable since it isn't factoring in the rollover from the prior season. It's supposed to be close to $8m which gives us $5m in space entering the offseason, not factoring in the fact that the cap will likely be higher than the projected $140m.

Langer is on the right track with his post, but only one guard is really within our wheelhouse. Can we really justify investing a first round pick, and roughly $23 million for 3 other starters on the line? That's way too rich for my blood, and Iupati is more of a power scheme fit. I like the idea of Fairley, but since it's unlikely that Suh returns to Detroit I find it highly unlikely that the Lions let both go, which makes Fairley a tough guy to target since I think it's questionable he even tests the market, much like Pot Roast. Franklin is my guy all day, and that's my first move. Then try to find that DT, which may be harder than we think, and another LBer to add to the mix. Toss in a CB to replace Finnegan's salary, maybe Kareem Jackson, and we can probably try to get 4 impact guys, but more realistically 3.

If we struggle to find that plugger in FA, I'd retain Odrick and pair him with a guy like Pat Sims. If we end up going with Odrick, which isn't my first choice, getting a guy like Brandon Spikes becomes an even higher priority to me.

Solid.

Good stuff.

Some potential targets I would like to see signed: Rodney Hudson, Orlando Franklin, Ndamukong Suh, Dan Williams, Brandon Spikes

I know signing all of them is unrealistic, a few of them would be nice.

I hope Miami doesn't even contemplate dishing out the amount of cash required to snag him.

Cosign on Dan Williams, Brandon Spikes and Orlando Franklin though.

Orlando Franklin.. just making the oline and lb core solid would make me happy, really..
