I'm thrilled with the victory. Absolutely elated. I've been confident all week that we'd expose Dalton and prove that if you switched them places, Tannehill would put up bigger numbers behind that Cincy line with those weapons. I think Dalton's an absolute fraud.

The most important part of this victory is that the national media sharks will back off for a bit. Had we lost our 5th consecutive last night, we'd be hearing nothing but 'Big Weirdo' stories this morning.

As excited as I am, there are a few serious questions that still remain, in fact i'd go as far as saying that last night's game has added a few more questions i have for this team:

1. What's the deal with this draft class?
Unless Philbln has a blanket policy on rookies not playing significant minutes I'm extremely concerned. Let's hold off on Dion Jordan for a second and key in on our 2 DB's who were still on the bench when Patterson went down and Jimmy Wilson slotted in. Ummm, what??? You're telling me neither of these guys can beat out Jimmy Wilson on the edge? This is a major, major concern.

Onto Jordan... the guy played 24 defensive snaps last night (and 17 on ST). Let's not kid ourselves, he got that many views on defense because of how many we played overall. They have absolutely no intention of getting this guy on the field. WHY IS THAT? And more importantly, when he is on the field, why isn't he doing all that much? Top 3 picks should be immediate starters/impact players. I don't care how stacked your team is. A top 3 pick should immediately take over a position. I don't want to hear that it's because Olivier is playing so well. He's playing OK - but not great.

In a year where Ireland HAD TO hit on FA and the draft, he's struggled on both so far.

2. Our coaches are clueless

Guys, I'm sorry it has to be said. Philbin is clueless out there. Asleep half the time it would seem. He's not very good at adjusting at the half, terrible clock manager, etc. I just don't think he'll ever win the big one. Don't see it.

Sherman is even worse. It's like the guy wants to sabotage the run game or something. The fact that Daniel Thomas is even out there is mind blowing. With the way Lamar Miller ran yesterday, he should have had 20 touches, but again, he fell short. That was partly due to the fact that Thomas got some carries (with a whopping 3.2 YPC) and partly because Sherman once again abandoned the run game in the 2nd half.

The fact that Philbin hasn't intervened on play calling is disappointing and concerning. Maybe he has, maybe he was behind the heavy sets. But he sure as heck didn't intervene when Sherman sent Thomas in to run a stretch play that, shockingly, went nowhere. I mean come on, Thomas is slow as molasses. You honestly think he's getting to the edge???

3. Who goes/who stays?

Great we won, but that doesn't change the fact that dirty laundry was aired out this week. Someone went down internally. Aponte has someone by the balls. Not sure who. But this regime ain't getting along and someone has to go. I think Sherman is gone, given all the stories about the players questioning him. But perhaps Philbin goes too. Or Ireland. Or both of em. Who knows? The idea of Ross and Aponte doing interviews this off season has me horrified.

4. Could this O-Line be the most disastrous line in NFL history?

Look, these guys played a solid game. Really solid. They won the LOS. Losing Atkins obviously was a huge blow, but even with him in we ran well. However a few things to consider:

  1. Pushing for the sack record
  2. Clabo pushing for the individual sack record
  3. Our 2nd year Tackle stormed out because he's been bullied.*
  4. Our 3rd year Center has been subpoenaed in connection with one of the biggest sports stories ever

These guys turned it around last night. And to be honest I think they'll play much, much better with some better play calling. However it doesn't change the fact that this line has been an absolute **** show. Ireland should be fired for this alone.

* I want to touch on Martin for a second. Lots of different schools on this and to be honest I'm a bit torn. Bullying has become a major controversy these days that I struggle with. On the one hand, being bullied must suck. It must really feel like crap knowing that everyone's picking on you, and that you don't have a friend you can talk to. On the flip side, we've become WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY too sensitive. Our ancestors would smack us in the mouths and tell us to man up.

This is a grown man. A 300 pound grown man at that. Confront your teammates if this makes you uncomfortable. Man up and speak your mind, tell them all to back down and move on. To just storm out is childish and immature.

5. Is Tannehill the guy?

He certainly played the part last night. No major mistakes to speak of, although he did miss some guys when he shouldn't have. But that's fine he's still a kid, learning the game. He makes some incredible throws when he needs to (See Hartline in the 4th) but he still goes through long periods where he does nothing. You rarely see the greats go 3 and out. Ryan's gotta to a better job of avoiding that.

I think he's going to be real good. Just needs some support around him.

I don't see how Philbin did a bad job last night. I thought he did a very good job coaching.

Your critiques seems more on the season than last nights game because considering the season the o-line played as well as they have all year, coaches had good game plans on both sides despite the offense struggling in the second half with limited touches and Tannehill, to me, showed he can get it done with the needed throws and clock management when he has time.

Focus on the win in last nights game without looking at the season.

Yes, Tanny is our guy of the future.

Yes, the o-line is dreadful, and will certainly be addressed.

Yes, Philbin has been AWFUL coming into the second half, but I would hardly call him clueless, IMO.

Huge win and give the team props coming through a rough week and being able to play on 3 days rest. That said, you should have concerns.

1: When Patterson went down I believe that it was RJ Sanford took his spot. I may be mistaken and whether or not it's Wilson or Stanford the point is where in the hell is Jamar Taylor? Second rounders should be able to work their way into a line up but this guy barely sniffs the field. Far to soon to grade the draft but that Ireland history of blowing 2-3 round picks is casting a huge shadow here.

2. It is a bad coaching staff but one thing about Philbin is seems to have a good grip on game day decisions. It's preparation time that bothers me as well as some of these clowns he has on his staff. Sherman is bad but Jim Turner is garbage. This guy needs to get jettisoned and get someone in there with NFL experience. Last night was the best the OL has played but the combination of little talent, depth and coaching makes this a disaster.

3. I don't want Ireland back period. Enough is enough. I'll credit him on some personnel he has brought in but he has missed far more than what a successful team needs. I don't see him capable of putting a balanced roster together and we all know the history of his 2-3 round picks. Aponte can go with him. Last week Hayden commented on Marino as Pres. Although I don't like the idea I would certainly hope Ross would confide in him to assist in finding A MAN to run the operation.

4. Already addressed.

5. We'll know after the season and quite possibly not until after next season if Tannehill is the answer. He has turned the ball over a lot but damn when the OL can hold there blocks and Sherman actually gives him decent options, he looks pretty damn good. He has three clutch drives to close out or extend games this season. His 4th qtr efficiency is up and the Dolphins are finally able to score TDs when they find the red zone. If you think he is not capable of putting a team on his back and carrying them I don't know what you're watching. The issue is can he be consistent with it. With the growth he has shown my gut says yes, but he still needs more time and development.

What's huge in my mind is that although the offense played better, we still can't score.

Grimes gave us 7. (6 but let's not be technical) and Wake gave us 2.

The offense struggles to score more than 14 - 21 points every week for the last two decades it seems.

We just don't seem like an aggressive team mentally. No one will ever be scared if we go up 10 or 14 on them because we don't have the firepower or mentality to push for 35 point games every week like the Saints, Broncos, Patriots, etc.

right after the bengals went on a long drive to make it 17-10 the defense was clearly gassed and needed a breather. what does this pathetic offense do...go 3 and out. sorry but i wasnt excited at all over this win. the offense is just unbelievably bad. the run d wears down every single game and the 2nd half adjustments are only made by the opponent. this draft class is also pathetic, dion jordan included. he has absolutley zero pass rush moves and is looking more and more like vernon ghoulston 2.0

When has the OL stopped being addressed? To paraphrase from Spesh, if this has been Ireland ignoring the the OL, I'm scared to see him making it a priority.

I agree with all of this except Tannehill. With better OL play and a competent OC, dude is legit.

Agreed with most of what you said. I want Philbin/Ireland gone. Keep Tannehill.

We aren't going anywhere with the Failbin/Fireland combo.

We did win last night and I'm definitely happy about that but if Tanny, Philbin, and the OL had a good game last night then we are a horrible team. Again it was a win no doubt but we went into OT and won by a safety over a team that played horribly and where their head coach was average as he is often.

Yea...what is going on with this years draft class? Is there a red-shirt system in the NFL, I don't know about?

right after the bengals went on a long drive to make it 17-10 the defense was clearly gassed and needed a breather. what does this pathetic offense do...go 3 and out. sorry but i wasnt excited at all over this win. the offense is just unbelievably bad. the run d wears down every single game and the 2nd half adjustments are only made by the opponent. this draft class is also pathetic, dion jordan included. he has absolutley zero pass rush moves and is looking more and more like vernon ghoulston 2.0

I kind of disagree a little. In the second half the Dolphins didnt get to keep the ball on offense because of a couple bad calls. Hate blaming the refs but the Offensive pass interference on Hartline was HORRIBLE, and put the Bengals back on the field when we were clearly gassed. There was no question they would go back and score. Then the non call on Hartline that should have been defensive pass interference (blatant) took us off the field again. But both times we should have had a fresh set of downs, and the defense should have been getting rested. We had no chance whatsoever to get into a rhythm in the second half.

Philbin doesnt make adjustments at the half, I agree. I personally dont like his coaching style at all. He reminds me of a middle school teacher more than a football coach. I hate that he forced the Brandon Marshall and Vontae Davis trades, and then got rid of every member of the leadership council.

This draft class is a complete disaster. Possibly the worst draft class ever. Not a single starter (and really not a single contributor) besides Sturgis, who missed the game winner against Baltimore, missed and easy kick in New England that would have put us up 17 (and led to NE taking over momentum), and could have cost us last night with his 30 yard miss.

The linebackers are not an improvement over last years. The running game is not better. The Oline is not better. The only real clear upgrades were Keller, Gibson, and Grimes.

Can't argue with much in the OP except that Philbin's clock management and game day decisions have been excellent, its not even debatable imo. Its been a loooooong time since the Dolphins have had anybody as good as Philbin in that regard.

That was the most preposterous combination of drivel I have ever read

Ok, now admit it, you didn't even watch the game last night. That was Philbin's best coaching job since he's been here. With all the controversy he kept the team together and they played for him until the end. Cased closed. I really wonder about some of you
