Hunch: Miami drafts a QB by Round 3

Yeah we don't have a 3rd so let's trade down in the first round to pick up one so we can draft competition for Skylar.

I have some pretty dumb takes on here I admit but coming up with this I would really have to work hard to beat 😂 sorry op not laughing at you just what you wrote.
OP says by round 3, so wouldn’t that mean before round 3.

Honestly, Mike White ain’t it as the backup and heading into this offseason, I figured Miami would have moved on from White and signed a new backup prior to the draft.

Obviously, that didn’t happen. I think they still see Skylar as a QB 3 at this point and unless I’m completely wrong and they love the current QB room, I’ve gotta hunch that they’re heading into this draft hoping a guy like Bo Nix slides to them in the 2nd or maybe a Spencer Rattler type of guy in the 3rd or maybe even the 4th if they decide to trade back and acquire more picks.

However it plays out, I really do think Miami is backup QB hunting in this draft in hopes to grab a young guy that can develop behind Tua and I would endorse that type of move.
Interesting thought. So what if Penix or Nix are there at 21?

I bet my left and right nut this doesn’t happen

Even in the multiverse
A new definition of going all in.

They aren’t using their first and second round picks on a QB. They don’t have a third or fourth round pick, so the earliest they would pick a QB is in the 5th round.

That being stated, I don’t think they will draft a QB with any of their draft picks. They are obviously happy with White as their backup and Thompson will likely remain the 3rd string QB in 2024.

They have many needs on the team but QB is not one of those needs at this time.

I agree we might draft a QB but not in the third round. Maybe in the sixth or seventh round. I am intrigued by the FSU QB Jordan Travis or the UT QB Joe Milton.
This. Melton has the physical side in spades. Can he develop all the finer points and the mental side of being an NFL quarterback?

Initially, he could play a role in those push plays. He's 6-5 and 230. I could see thar working in Miami.

Haven't been impressed with White or Thompson.

Then we trade down with the saints or someone else who needs a QB
The only way I would trade down from 21 to 45 is if the Saints trade their 2025 first round pick along with their 2nd and 3rd round picks this year.

I personally hate trading down in the first round. Trading down one or two positions in the first round is okay but trading completely out of the first round is a no go as far as I am concerned. Unless the Dolphins receive additional picks this year along with a first in 2025.
