CORAL GABLES · The University of Miami has fired Greg Mark, the Hurricanes' defensive line coach since 1996, according to several sources.
UM officials would not confirm Mark had been fired, but players were told about a dismissal Monday afternoon.
The sources said Mark, one of four former UM players on the coaching staff, was let go because of personal reasons. His line helps lead the way for the nation's No.1-ranked defense.
"This is a private, in-house matter, and I will have no further comment," read coach Larry Coker's statement.
Phone calls to Mark's home requesting comment were not returned.
