Hyde- 5 Decisions that sunk the Dolphins

Aaron Rodgers had two Rooks protecting his edges..he is not making excuses..

Rodgers got beat up all last year cause of his line..All he did was throw TD passes.

When Ryan does not have a running game he is an average qb, average at best....

Lets face it, Ryan is shook right now..At least when he plays the Packers.

Whats next? Are we gonna start making excuses for Mike Vick? His line sucks too.

Mike Vick has always been a poor quarterback. I've tried to tell you people that for years. Yes, even when everyone was pounding the table to trade for him after last year.

I'm not making excuses for Matt Ryan, I'm telling you that he's going to be just fine. He's not on the level of the top 4 QB's in this league yet, but I promise you he's not 'shook'.

All he needs is for Roddy White to catch the football when it hits him in the hands when 6 points are at stake.

Dont forget Rothisberger too...

You mean the guy who got outplayed 3:1 by Mark Sanchez in the AFC Championship Game last year, and cost his team the superbowl by throwing INT's all over the place?

The guy who rode Jerome Bettis and the refs to his first ring?

Hey I am not one of those ppl, I dont think Vick is great, all tho he has made some amazing plays before.... Just too inconsistent.

This is how it all starts.. No running game = Lots of pressure of Qb to make plays = Matt Ryan will fold like he has, I bet Mike Mularkey will be fired soon.

Kinda sounds like the Chad Henne syndrome..:chuckle:

You can't talk about how great Matt Ryan is and then bash Big Ben. They are on the same tier of QBs in the NFL. If Ben sucks than that means Ryan sucks too.

Disagree totally. The five things that sunk this franchise were in no particular order 1) taking Culpepper over Brees 2) taking Ronnie Brown over Aaron Rodgers 3) having Tony Sparano as our head coach 4) thinking Chad Henne was our future QB 5) thinking Bill Parcells was a competant executive

Drafting who turned out to be the best LT in football is not some franchise killing mistake. Giving up a couple of 2nd rounders for Marshall doesnt cripple a franchise. Usually dont mind Hyde but im not buying was hes selling this time.

We have Brees or Rodgers wearing aqua and white and the franchise looks alot better right now.

You are missing the point. Its the 5 decisions THIS REGIME has made that has sunk the Dolphins.

Brees & Rodgers are moot points with this......the whole article is a huge shot at Parcells.

No , not him...The guy who is constantly escaping pressure..Who has defenders drapped all over him...

Who throws 5 td with one foot.

Who had his super bowl MVP wr traded ..

That guy.

That wasn't the point, I wasn't bashing Big Ben. The point is all QB's have bad games, go through rough patches, etc... but the top QB's will always pull themselves out of it.

Everyone here wants to write off Matt Ryan so bad everytime he throws an incompletion because they know how bad these idiots blew it when they passed him up to build this 'power' running game Miami steamrolls opponents with.

If he'd stop holding the football so long he could avoid all that. Might even have two good feet....

I agree that we should have drafted Ryan. All tho i dont think he is that good we should have drafted Ryan.

You were right to say that when you have an oppurtunity to take a Franchise type qb you take him.

I am hoping to God if we dont get luck another qb will be worth taking high.

Five and seven step drops do that to you..

Plus another guy who has no line in front of him.

I have just never liked Matt Ryan. I do think he should have been drafted instead of Long, but I just don't think he is a great Qb. He and Flacco were both anointed after being average in their rookie year. They are both solid, but I don't see greatness in either one. I do have to admit though that Ryan had some impressive numbers last year and if he continues to improve I will be eating some crow, but this backslide so far this year is starting to confirm my suspicions.

We were all told that Chad Henne could not improve..That after 2 years, he was as good as he was gonna get..

Miami and its fan just didnt wanna wait for him to get better..I'll admit after the 3rd game this year I gave up hope on him getting better.

They haven't watched Matt Ryan this year, or they'd know that Roddy White has dropped more TD passes than Brandon Marshall this year. Those drops have cost the Falcons 2 potential wins... not Matt Ryan. Everytime he makes a play all on his own (like the 50+ yard scramble out of the pocket and throw back across the field he made Sunday) it gets called back due to a phantom holding call on Clabo...

This time last year, Aaron Rodgers was still sitting on the outside looking in at the elite quarterbacks, then he took off.

If Aaron Rodgers had been sent to the 49ers and started too early, it'd be him needing his career revived by Jim Harbaugh instead of Alex Smith. Conversely, if Alex Smith had went to Green Bay and sat behind Favre for 3 years, he'd probably be the one with the ring.

They'll never admit the mistake, no matter how bad this team is, and no matter how bad Jake Long looks.

I get that a players situation greatly affects his development, but you are just taking it way to far. You really think just switching draft spots between Smith and Rodgers would cause an almost identical swap in career trajectory? Your logic says that the players talent and ability are irrelevant and that environment is the only thing determining success.

Using that same logic, if we drafted Ryan first he would have been in the same ****ty situation that Henne has been in, and thus, would have had the same amount of success thusfar.

You are simultaneously arguing that QB success is determined by the help they have around them, while also saying we should have drafted Ryan at at #1 when we had a team that would have provided no help. I just don't get what the point you are trying to make is.

I'm not a Matt Ryan fan. Regardless of the drops and potential big plays being called back, every team has those including us, they guy has 6 INTs and 3 fumbles lost in 5 games. If he were on the Dolphins we would all be ticked and blaming this regime for not knowing how to draft a QB...keep in mind he has a HOF TE on his roster, Roddy White despite the drops is still a top tier WR (he doesn't have more drops than Marshall) and he's had one of the best running games in football since his rookie season with Michael Turner.

If Matt Ryan was on this team and we were 2-3 more than half the fans right now would be wishing we were 0-5 and in the Andrew Luck sweepstakes. No doubt in my mind. And the only thing that can consol this fan base after the crap Bill Parcells has set this franchise up with would be the culmination of drafting Andrew Luck #1 overall....for that we can all send Bill Pacells a great big thank you card if it happens.

Thank you!

Matt Ryan is, and always was, an average qb. Just because he's got a fancy nickname and through a TD with his first pass in the NFL does not make him great. He's more of a myth now than a real player, his reputation outways his ability. He's on a loaded team and to be honest he's holding them back. We've made so many mistakes as an organization, but jake long isn't one of them, what do you think the eagles would give for a jake long in their line up? A change of approach is needed but we can now legitamately spend the next 5 years drafting skill position players due to the depth we've accured recently on the lines, starting with andrew luck. I'm excited for the future, the only way is up and it might be a quicker rise than some of you realise.

I can also point out that Tom Brady is the only QB in the modern era that hasn't experienced a off year. Or I can just blame receiver drops, tipped passes and protection problems since it worked for Henne.

Let's be honest about the anatomy of a pass and catch.. Both the QB and the receivers have to make plays. Not every Brady pass is perfect, but his receivers play hard for him and make plays. There is only one receiver on our roster to lays it on the line to make plays that is Bess.

Hartline and Marshall should be embarrassed. Especially Marshall. He can't hold Bess' jock when it comes to effort.
