Suh’s base salary is $23.5 million next season. Amoritize that over five years and it’s $4.7 million a year. So combine that with the $5.1 million annual signing bonus money and Suh's salary-cap number next year is a manageable $9.8 million.

This shows the Dolphins’ front office had some good thinking behind this historic contract and Suh (and his agent) wanted to provide the team some cap flexibility in building the team.
There’s no escaping the big numbers coming in the deal. In 2017, if things stand, his cap number would be $20 million. In 2018, it's $27 million. But besides these numbers being changeable (as the five-year amoritization shows next year), the salary cap increases, too. It’s at $143 million per team now. By 2017, it is estimated to be at $160 million by sites that write extensively about it like overthecap.com.

IN A LAY MAN'S TERM, WE BOUGHT A HOUSE NAMED SUH, WE PUT DOWN BIG DOWN PAYMENT AND THE MORTGAGE WILL TAKE FOREVER. NICE!
THANK YOU, DAWN, WE LOVE YOU!!

I'm telling you guys, I see 25-30+ million in cap savings.. We'll have just enough to re-sign our guys and add some cheap depth.

So next year is the only year it is amortizable?

Said it before, and I'll say it again ... When it comes to figuring the cap out - I'm a frigging moron. :idk:

omarkellyLet is not mistake this. The D-line is eating off the table Suh sets. Look at him push the center into the QB's line of sight, buying the Defensive ends time to close. That is the value of Suh.

omarkellySome people are so obsessed with Ndamukong Suh's tackles and sack totals. That isn't his job. His job is to take on two O-linemen, clog up his running lane and make opponents go elsewhere, and to be disruptive on the D-line. Despite what the numbers say he is doing his job.

such a waste of money, love the guy but we should of used that money of LB's & OL.

What LBs and OL were available? Franklin? Seemed pretty clear he wanted to go to SD. Did he even visit with anybody else? Anybody else that was available wouldn't have been impacted by Suh as they would have come relatively cheap.

Suh is fine. It's pretty apparent that people just don't know what they are looking at with him. I guarantee Wake is VERY happy we have him after the last game.

Of course we can open up some space. You almost always can. But we will need to sign a butt load of players too. We will be rolling over about $10 mil on top of the space that can be opened up, but we will also only have 31 or so players under contract with that scenario. If we cut Misi, Cameron, Jennings, Jordan, Mccain, and Fox we will have about $35 million, but will have to replace the following: our backup QB, our starting and backup RB's, our starting and 3rd string TE's, our 4th & 5th WR's, 3 O-linemen, two DE's including one starter, a rotational DT, 4-5 LB's including 2 starters, a starting FS and a backup safety, a starting and a nickel CB. You eat up $35 million really, really fast with that list. Your depth players will eat up close to $6-$7 million not including backups at QB, DE, or CB where they normally pay backups more than vet minimum. Our depth is a less obvious 2016 expenditure that nobody is seeing. The current cap number for 2016 doesn't include 40% of what the roster will be at the moment. It's a little deceiving.
