It's probably a bad plan, if T-Dumb has anything to do with it.

OK, I’m not going to lie. The Dolphins’ offseason has me stumped. People keep asking: What’s the new plan? And is it a smart plan? A dumb plan? Are they following their plan?
Is it, as Harvard Business School might phrase it, a sustainable business model to bring this franchise out of the wilderness?
Do they even have a business model?
Short answer: Yes. They have a business model. As I see it, they’re unloading top talent due to high price tags, signing 30-something players and defensive ends and sacrificing talent for character to improve the locker room.
But shouldn’t the idea be to chase talent and character? And improve the team on the field? They keep talking about an improved culture, which is all well and good except for one nagging question.
Who set that previously failed culture?
Who, for instance, hired a cocaine-sniffing, video-making, Vegas-escort-calling offensive coordinator?
Who signed a 30-something linebacker in Lawrence Timmons who not only went AWOL but wasn’t as good as scouted, and an old tight end in Julius Thomas who replaced old tight end Jordan Cameron?
Who signed an overweight linebacker in Rey Maualuga, known for partying, who took weeks to get in playing shape — and then was arrested for partying?
That previous culture was set by the same brain trust of VP Mike Tannenbaum, coach Adam Gase and general manager Chris Grier, who are setting the new culture. This is Plan No. 3 in Year No. 3 for them, too.

As I see it, it's taken Gase a little bit of time to get control of things. Apparently, he has Ross's blessing because it couldn't happen otherwise. With his control he is dumping bloated contracts and overpaid players. We are taking our medicine now caused by Suh, Pouncey and others no longer here. We are paying dearly to get rid of these players but what were building, in my view, is something better and certainly something longer lasting. Yes, we brought in a few veterans, but each choice made in FA felt like a different intelligence at work. We brought in Kilgore and Sitton (4 Pro Bowls) to shore up the oline and at the same time got rid of Pouncey. This is a major victory for the Dolphins. This is a very good oline with some nice depth pieces. The return of Tannehill, playing behind an oline that is at least average, will make a huge difference in offensive success. If they can run block for Gore and Drake, then watch out, this team could have an exciting offense build around play action, which is Tannehills strength. There are still holes to fill but if we can hit on a few picks in the draft we'll be in pretty good shape. Interesting times ahead.

The more I read these offseason articles, the more Im convinced all these writers a actually finheaven posters... And not the well liked ones...

In a week span, Adam Gase went from being in love with Tannehill, Mayfield and Rosen... They're just throwing alot of **** at the wall...

Thing is, when you consistently throw **** at walls, you just end up full of ****...

I hate being the "king" of the offseason. It has not gotten us anywhere and we have been left in financial disarray. Thus the purge of talent and high salaries. If we can get our team to a point where depth and youth are the base of the organization then we can take a occasional (not every year) swing with the elite talent that comes along in free agency. If our draft falls our way, we could have a fun competitive squad built for the future.

I have to believe that Gase has a plan, there's no way that he is just flying by the seat of his pants, for goodness sake these tough decisions had to be made either now or later and he chose to do it now. If we have a good draft this team can once again be competitive, by the way we are not the only team that have had to jettison quality players whether because of salary cap issues or to acquire additional draft picks in order to get better.

I think there is a plan. I also think we're about to find our what is more important:

1. A good plan with the right players to execute it.
2. Just good talent.

I'm optimistic but always am at this time of year. If you're not what's the point?

The big problem started when T-dumb decided to give that contract to Suh. Maybe back in the 80's you were ok building your team around a DT now is a passing league and you build around that. On offense you need your QB,WR and LT
On defense you need pass rushers, corners, a ball hawking FS and LB's that can cover
I'm hoping they get it at last but time will tell

The problem was also that Miami didn't get talent around Suh. Teams doubled him and no one else really stepped up. Definitely a bad contract, though.

Looks to me like the powers that be realized there was no leadership in the locker room, or very few leaders. That explains the veteran acquisitions, players who know the right way to practice and prepare.

Loved Suh as a player, but you never really heard that he was a leader or a great locker room presence. I'm sorry, but for his salary he should be both.

I think the team wanted to sign Landry, but he kind of sealed his fate with the way he ended the season. My take anyway. Otherwise, I think they would have traded him last season getting more value in return.

Crazy that Hyde, ESPN, CBS Sports, USA Today, Vegas and every other media outlet thinks we are a head scratching dumpster fire and the worst team in the NFL, but people on this site think we are better off and that Gase's offense is going to shock the NFL. Lol

You know what they say about opinions, they are just like a holes. Everyone has one and they all stink. Wonder how many of those people/outlets you mentioned predicted the correct Super Bowl Champion this past year. How many of them even correctly picked all the Division winners or playoff teams? People know everything before the fact but when things don't turn out the way the "majority" believes people either lie/deny their original takes and say they knew it all along or they sleek away back into their holes. We will see where everything stands in January 2019 and how many have the guts to admit they were wrong. I will be here, have no problem admitting when I was mistaken. The Eagles got the biggest laugh of all in 2017/18. The Rams, Jaguars, Saints and Bills got a few laughs in as well. As many predicted them to fail before 2017 even started. Wonder where all those people went who were proclaiming the Patriots Super Bowl champs and said the Eagles were going to get demolished? Should start bumping some old threads.

Two things heavily in the negative to consider here. First Tannanabum first was GM of the Browns then Jets both franchises in disarray. So his track record is poor at best. Second rarely does a club improve jettisoning its proven talent like this year. Now consider this is Gases first coaching gig so it's hard to determine how good his judgement is based on his past performance on what he is doing now. So thats two out of three not so good things to consider where we are now and what hangs in the balance is a first time head coach making these decisions.

All those teams you mentioned have good players though.....And they're well coached

The Dolphins have some good players as well. All the nonsense on here about the Dolphins having zero talent is almost laughable. The jury was still out on all of those coaching staffs before 2017 other than the Saints. Every one of those teams had a losing record the previous season.
