1. Make some obvious cuts – and others not so obvious. Releasing defensive end Mario Williams ($8.5 million), linebacker Koa Misi ($4.2M), defensive tackle Earl Mitchell ($4M) – and a tough one like left tackle Branden Albert (saving $7.1M). That's nearly $24 million in cuts to go with the $21.5 million the Dolphins were under the cap. They'd have $45.5 million to spend, though $5 million will be needed for the draft and another $5 million for in-season moves.

actually good read.

As the echoes of another New England Super Bowl win fade thankfully away, another trademark of the Patriots' greatness stares at us from the ledger sheet. Bill Belichick has $62 million to spend this offseason. That's sixth most in the league. Dolphins need to ensure every dollar is well spent and the return on investment is there.

Readier is a word? Sounds like it shouldnt be but it checks out. Anyways, all that stuff all of us already knew. He probably got most of it off this site. Haha.

it didn't sound right to me either - but I'm pretty sure linebackerr isn't a word or a position on a football team. Can't anyone write an article without mis-spelling something?

The TE from Jax is a locker room cancer. This not a move I would even consider. I am also not in favor of cutting Albert. I see the logic I just don't like creating new holes.

Resign Sims and draft a TE in a TE rich draft. Focus on guard and LB in free agency

All of those cuts would make sense with Albert being the hardest. Love his leadership, but he simply isn't worth his salary since he can't stay on the field.

We don't need a huge turnover on this team. We should focus to have a strong draft, sign our own proven pieces to as team friendly deals as possible(Stills, Sims, and Jones and Landry if possible), and sign smart affordable free agents.

Definite cuts should be Koa Misi, Mario Williams, and Earl Mitchell. Brandon Albert should be kept until further depth on the offensive line develops.

Agree with the general direction, but I'd wait for Jacksonville to cut J. Thomas. You can get him cheaper than his current contract on the open market, and you wouldn't be blowing a pick.

I'm hoping that some of these CB's get pushed up the boars, because I can easily see all of Miami's 1st-RD, front-7 targets off the board before pick 22. Anthony Walker love died down after a less impressive Senior season (added weight didn't clearly hindered his movement), but if he looks good at the Combine, he could work his way into the 1st. Walker's 2015 is probably the best season of any LB in this draft. 2016 was a step in the wrong direction, but he still played well and made a lot of plays.

17-per between Landry and Stills is pretty rich. If Gase values continuity at the position over talent/value, I could live with it, but I'm not sure that's the case. If you're willing to spend premium resources on WR (not my preferred route), you can draft Cooper Kupp, Taywan Taylor, or Josh Reynolds in the 2nd or 3rd (Kupl could sneak into the 1st). Each of those players has a better combination of skill and talent than Landry and Stills. If you'd rather just sign them so that you can spend the picks on D or OL and keep the same group together, I'd understand it. Overall, I hate spending premium resources on WR. It's the most saturated position in the NFL, and that trend doesn't seem to be slowing.

Nick Perry would be a DE in Miami, and he's one of my top FA targets. He struggled with LB responsibilities and injuries in GB, but when asked to rush the QB, he's been very good/dominant in spurts - elite explosive power. He only has one year of high-level production, so he should be relatively cheap. Let Landry return punts and sign C. Patterson to return kickoffs/play ST's and 5th WR.

Drake is our KR. I feel good about Scott filling the 5th WR role.

You don't buy into Julius Thomas is lazy and quit after he got his money? I don't want anybody like that on this team

I think most playera in the NFL would do the same thing in his situation. There are only so many extra-motivated people in the world, and that goes for the NFL, too. He was on a lame-duck team, with a lame-duck QB and coach. He has a history with Gase, and Gase has control of his locker room, so we don't have to avoid those players the way we did under Philbin. The Patriots routinely gamble on players like Thomas, and they often work out very well.

Drake is a fine KR, but you have a chance to sign one of the best KR's in NFL history for pretty cheap. Do it. He also covers kicks and punts.

Good points and you might have undercovered a gem in Perry. Move him to DE full time and he will excell.

Is there evidence of Julius Thomas getting cut soon? I thought they decided to keep him

I haven't been keeping up on NFL gossip very well, so you could be right. I wouldn't trade for him, and I wouldn't want him at his current contract.
