This is my thought. Has this band of mismatched pieces become a cohesive unit? They gave an excellent effort against against one of the better defenses in the league. They ran the ball effectively against the league No.1 rush defense and while the backside of the defense is not as good as the front side, Miami effectively moved the ball through the air. The pass blocking is light years from where it had been.

How has this offensive line come together with two starters out, two discarded tackles and a reserve guard? Beats me. It was nice to see a patchwork unit so much under the microscope (NFL investigation, league-leading sacks, etc ...) enjoy a few laughs, as I wrote in my column. It played its best game of the year, allowing one sack and getting the third-most yards rushing of the Dolphins season (125) up against the No. 1 rushing defense. The line has been a mess this year and looked unsolvable when Richie Incognito and Jonathan Martin left. It’s tackles: old veterans Bryant McKinnie, whom Baltimore benched, and Tyson Clabo, whom the Dolphins benched. And it’s working. “It shows what happens when we’re all on the same page, working together,’’ Clabo said.
