The Dolphins can’t be this bad, can they?
Well?
We’re about to come to some conclusion after Sunday.’s fourth game takes the season to the quarter-pole and ends the softest part of the scheduled season. The Chargers, Jets and Saints are three teams that won’t make the playoffs. The Titans are 2-2 and can go either way after a 57-14 loss to Houston last Sunday.
The Dolphins are the focus here, though, because this has been a stunning start. If they lost, I thought the defense would be the problem .It’s the offense. And yet … and yet … I still think there will be a regression to the mean on who they are.
I still think they’ll win Sunday for these reasons:

In this case that would be a PROgression to the mean. :laugh

If Cassel starts, we should be favored to win. Otherwise, fingers crossed Gase can somehow make a cow out of minced meat to keep this team competitive the rest of the way. FO's numbers say we have the 2nd or 3rd toughest schedule the rest of the way, and that's bad news for anyone, let alone us.

Actually, if he can fix the OL, that's all it takes.

And I think that's a problem. The Dolphins need to be an underdog at home in the worst way, and they're favored by three points this week.

Last year they were a big underdog at home against the Steelers, which I think was a big inspiration for them, when they made their turnaround.

They need to feel slighted and they need a rallying cry. Being in this situation (favored) doesn't readily provide it.

If we start out slow or with a morale crushing turnover in the first quarter i see a long day for us. Without checking stats i would say the odds are high that Cassel will have a career day. We havw the uncanny ability to play better against hall candidates vs career backups.

My gut feeling is that we will win this one. If not then Hoops is looking right and Cutler is that bad and the issue. If that is the case expect a QB change. It will be a interesting year and tell us of course if last year was all luck or how good Gase is. Our roster has improved and we resigned our own which was a great move. A guy like the RB Williams who is looking a little half hearted out there may have to be benched to get the message out. We moved the ball in the quater of the game well enough in the Saints game so the potential is there.

I understand the emotional trends and advantages but if we need a home underdog position to get our second W this year then what's the difference ? It's not sustainable

As just posted in another thread, I think there's a rapid loss of confidence in Cutler by the offense... and it will snowball under the theory that if he doesn't give a ****, why should they expect to succeed. Consequently, I'm not too optimistic about winning this game but would love to choke on some crow!!!

If Cutler was in the pocket all day patting the ball and scanning I would agree the team is losing faith in him..
Jay cant run the ball and our 3 inside lineman might benthe worst group in all of football.
Cutler could be way better but Moore would not be hitting receivers in stride with no running game

All this Cutler, Cassel talk is so overdone. Whichever of these 2 comes out and plays aggressive and poised, that team wins. Cutler needs to take that and run with it.

We better beat the titans because our schedule is much harder than them throughout the rest of the year, unless Gase starts being much more aggressive expect a 10+ loss season easily. It's not about who we beat right now, it's all about if Gase will change, because that is the only way we are turning this mess around.
