A word of caution........if the poll on this site was taken right after the Rose Bowl, Vince Young would have been the winner, because of his amazing performance. Leinart would have been second because of his good game as well. Cutler and Croyle would not have been even close to those two. Now, with scouts drooling over Cutler and Croyle at the Senior Bowl, which neither of them played well in, all of a sudden they will be at the same level?!

This is the power of hype! The power that transformed Alex Smith into a #1 pick  ! The power that made everyone think that Ryan Leaf had all the tools that Peyton had  ! The truth is that the position of quarterback is a crap shoot. No one can predict which QB will be the best one, though my money is on Leinart and Young just because they are established winners. Cutler reminds me alot of Harrington, because they both came from losing programs and they put up good numbers, but how easy does that translate to the NFL? Just ask the Lions! Any of these QBs could turn out to be major busts. I would much rather see the Dolphins get an impact player at another position, like OLine or Safety then risk a potentially cripplinig investment on a 1st round QB. Than you can see Saban and Mueller work their magic in the later rounds for a QB steal, because we know Mueller can find the QBs!

I agree. Miami should get the best player they can at #16. Hopefully, that will be a player on defense. I like the idea of grabbing someone like Whitehurst in the 2nd or 3rd round and developing him over the next year or two. My guess is that he will remain under the "hype" radar.

good point.

one correction....you can't draw a comparison between Vandy and Oregon. I believe in Harrington's senior year, the finished #2 in the polls and had a pretty legitmate gripe that they deserved to be in the national championship game. Vanderbilt couldn't even get to .500 with Cutler.

Horrible comparison in more ways than one.

Yeah there were a couple times lately where I logged on and thought I had mistakenly loged onto the Jay Cutler forum. He may be good, but I'd take Leinart over him or Young any day of the week.

i think the reason why cutler was number 1 when i voted yesterday, is because of the homers on our web site (dont get me wrong, i love the communitte of fin fans here), but we seem to pick the player that is most interesting to us (see, marcus vick when he was playing well, and all the threads about him).

yeah it's funny how a Dolphins board gets homers for a player who will likely never be on the team.

Good point... It would be very sound thinking on the Dolphins part to get the best player available at # 16.

I agree 100%. I just voted on the Finheaven poll as well and saw Jay Cutler is leading the poll with 36%!! Where the hell did that come from?!

Leinart and Young have been getting hype starting from last college season, and Jay Cutler just started getting mentioned a few weeks ago. All of a sudden he looks like more of a complete quarterback than both of these guys.

I'm not a big college football fan or analyst, but I just find this to be very suspicious. ;)

Trust your instincts, and dont follow the sheep. But you have to actually watch to learn. When looking at QB, look at the head first. the coolest head out there is Vince Young.

if you read what i was saying instead of trying to think of a smart a** reply, you would of read me say the most "interesting" pick for us, not saying he would join our team, but that is the qb that if we could trade up, we would pick, please dont sit here and say there arent homers on this site. and when most people post, its with a biased opinion.

I agree with you to an extent, but if QB is such a crapshoot and we should pick an impact position.... When do we address the glaring hole under center?
